He's going....to City.....as was always going to happen. From the grovelling notes in the last home game of the season programme, to that dreadful interview and the appointment of a manger on a short term contract with a brand new DoF, flashing cash we couldn't previously afford on players like Bryan Gil, it was always building up to the sale of Kane. After all these years of flogging Kane into the ground, did anyone really think that Levy was going to agree to trying to sign a player like Danny Ings as a back up?
If Kane goes he goes ... but it shows that: A. He who must be called called Pep is full of **** about city having no money. B. As per, City simply win by buying who they want. I don't go along with "kane deserves trophies"...he deserves my respect for some great memories and goals and if I go to a spurs v City match will get a round of applause before a game from me. But making it clear he was leaving when we were still playing for a European place was beyond disrespectful so hope he gets his arse handed to him when we play. And my wanting City to win nothing won't change. City will have spent just under £1 BILLION since he who must be called Pep to over in 2017 if this goes through. To be honest I don't get the "achievement" of winning a trophy in that situation...they have simply bought them.
I’m just glad it’s The Sun reporting it at the moment and no one credible. It does feel inevitable though one way or another that City will just hit the “**** it” button and splash the cash. Hopefully we long it out and ensure we have as many/ all our targets in before sanctioning the sale of Kane, make them have as less time with him as possible, preferably after our game against them too, not sure I’m too keen on seeing Harry bang a hattrick past us on the first game of the season.
I don’t believe it’s as clear cut as The Sun are making out. I believe it will go to the wire of the end of the window, by which time Kane may well feel we have a team that can realistically challenge for the league. Especially as we won’t be in major European competition - the younger players will feature heavily in that. Let me actually see City put a bid in before jumping to conclusions.
All these potential new players have zero PL experience, they are just as likely to fall on their arse as they are to be good signings, we have been here before, it has all the hallmarks of the Bale / Baldini summer, and we all know what happened there.
Ah yes, acceptance - the attitude that created modern Britain...and lost Scotland the opportunity of going it alone.
Can't disagree with that. I think, don't accept crap but don't be surprised when it sticks around as it always does in some form or another. The world of humans does not get better it just changes location.
Challenge for the league? The players linked with Spurs all seem decent enough but let’s not get carried away and say they will turn this side into title challengers because that’s just not realistic. Plus appointing Nuno showed their ambition. He’s a decent enough manager but again he’s not the sort who will come in and challenge for titles.
Someone previously (apologies I can’t remember who) made the very good point that a lot of PL legends come to their clubs having no PL experience and ended up smashing it. Signing someone with zero PL experience is a risk but then so is every signing. Even Kane signing for City is a risk as he might not fit their system etc
Having no intention isn’t as strong as not for sale. We’ve seen this play out before with players and it always end the same way.
He comes across as a likeable guy but his cv doesn’t fill me with massive confidence. Fwiw I think he will do a steady but unspectacular job (like a lot of the signings linked).
