Correlation does not imply causation. If I did a "sliding window" analysis of a number of seasons, for a number of reasonable window sizes, I suspect that for certain window periods/sizes, I would get quite high correlations between them and what happens at season end. Some of them may actually be nowhere near the time periods we have suggested.
A lot of non-HG player who have little silverware prospects (club or international) and are on quite good wages. On the one hand some could just go full "pension mode" , while I also don't like too much freezing out of players to force their exit (the season is long and good squad management matters) .
No way you knew that. If you remember the 78-79 0-7 and 1-5 spankings by the Poool and them lot, you wondered whether we would be relegated again.
In this scenario I would be a time traveller with full knowledge of the upcoming events. Wasn't suggesting at the time I was all that confident.
I was praying solely to avoid relegation, as the banter I and other Spurs supporters were enduring at school to that date was unrelenting.
Was the only spurs fan in school ... the Liverpool 7-0 and the gooner 5-0... at home ...were painful as **** for 11 Yr old me in school
One of my rare trips in those days to WHL for 0-5 against Arsenal. And I was in the away end. Believe me, brimming with confidence was not how I felt.
Was lucky enough to be at both the 5-0 NLD win in 83 and the 5-1 in 2008. Was also at the 4-1 loss in 2010...Bentley announced his football retirement with his performance that night
Gollini’s apparently had his first part of his medical and is flying over tomorrow to then sign his deal, according to Romano.
Hopefully true. Lots of rumours and according to Twitter, Spurs have already signed 4 players this window (Gollini, Gil, Romero & Tomiyasu) so it would be nice to have something official asap
It doesn’t look like Romero is gonna happen, some reports saying that like Kounde he ain’t interested in joining us. I think signing a top CB is gonna be our hardest one to sought, not many likely gonna want to join us at the moment. I think the other three should be Spurs players sooner or later though providing we don't hit any bumps. Hopefully we started getting some out too, for me that’s arguably as important, gotta clear the ranks and rid those who’ve been holding us back for too long.
I’d honestly be happy with someone like Andersen as a start, PL experience and stood out in a poor Fulham team. I agree that the top tier of CBs, whether established or up and coming, may be out of reach. That includes players like Lacroix.
I’m not overly sold on Andersen tbh. Not saying I’d necessarily say no but just that he wouldn’t be near the top of my list. Bit like Vestergaard, solid enough but I don’t see either impacting our back line too much. Saying that, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact CB/ type of CB I’d like at the moment.
Yeah it’s hard to pinpoint what we want and what we can afford. Andersen is good on the ball though, which replaces an asset Toby brings, and he’s young and a leader. I think we could do a lot worse.
Yeah I’ve said previously I’m more interested in seeing the deadwood be cleared out than players coming in. If it means swap deals then so be it. I can’t face another season with the likes of Sissoko, Aurier and Dier playing.
Wasn't there the suggestion we had an option to extend the loan by another season going about yesterday?
