£400m for Wet Spam or £300m for Newcastle United. I get I'm biased, but what the actual **** is that about?

Not a scooby on what it really means but from my GCSE drop out knowledge of life I read it to be Man City's FFP fine and European ban had some dodgy dealings and they felt it was unfair. Almost as if people are making life difficult through the EPL

I mean it’s no different to the PSG/Khalifa corruption. “Court? Nah. How about I pay you a large amount of money instead? Deal.”

But are the PL effectively in bed with City over it, is that the issue? So they’re both murky?

    I believe they're after 800 million.

I'm not sure what their debt is though

Nufc is being frozen out of the picture... TV money killed the advantage we had in terms of selling tickets, then the Chelsea takeover stole our top 4 space within 2 years of us claiming it, then Ashley, then the premier league denied us the chance to try and regain a place in the top half and for honours.

Fingers crossed in 6 months the story ends with a win

You are dreaming mate. Six months time there will have been no progress made whatsoever. At the very best, the PL will wait until the very last minute before CAT starts to make a deal with Ashley. And that could be years away. Read the below from The Athletic's article on the whole shambles...

"Could it (the CAT) break the logjam?

    In theory, yes.

In practice, nobody knows because sports disputes very rarely end up in CATs. This partly explains why the judge has given the league two extensions to gather evidence for its request to have the case thrown out because the tribunal does not have the jurisdiction for disputes such as this.

We await the judge’s ruling on this matter but if anyone thinks this tribunal is a shortcut to a takeover, they could be in for a further disappointment. As of today, there is only one hearing scheduled in July before a summer break. The next set of dates for case management conferences are in October and the three cases in question started in 2018.

There are 105 active cases on the tribunal’s diary list — only one is newer than Newcastle’s.

What does this mean for Newcastle on the field in 2021-22?

In all likelihood that Ashley will remain owner for the vast majority of the season. At least."

This takeover is never going to happen and people need to come to terms with that for the sake of their own sanity.

Ah, thanks, that clears that up. So, yep, I'm almost completely done with it all.

    So here's what could happen:

"Lee, Justin - it's Mike. There's rumours of an investment group offering £400m for West Ham. Can you look into it, dig out the details and reach out to discuss the potential of negotiating a sale of this club I ****ing despise? Oh, and get Kenyon in to see where he's at. I am, after all, a really, really willing seller so open to reduced offer if he can do the deal before 1st September."

    Here's what will happen:

    Man City/EPL arbitration overview - only if you’re interested;

2018 - one of those leaks websites revealed stolen emails and documents which suggested City were ****ing around with FFP (who knew!!!)

March 2019, Uefa start investigating Man City’s compliance with FFP; rules aimed at encouraging clubs to break even and only spend money made in revenues, and not pay excessive money for player wages/transfer fees that are just being subsidised by rich owners. The system SHOULD mean sponsorships become very important in terms of ability to sign players, and must truly be commercial revenues from outside companies, not disguised owner funding. In theory it should level the pitch out a bit. But in practice you could argue it just cements the glossy big boys in to their place cos they’ll always get the richer sponsors; money follows money.

14 February 2020 - at the end of the Uefa investigation, Man City got a two-year ban from the Champions League and a €30m (£25m) fine for misleading Uefa and for breaking financial fair play rules by exaggerating the level of sponsorship income from companies in Abu Dhabi. Shirt sponsorship by Etihad airline had covered up big private cash injections from Sheikh Mansour’s own wallet (Abu Dhabi ruling family don’tcha know)

Man City appealed and the Court of Arbitration in Sport disagreed with Uefa so - on 13 July 2020 - overturned the ban and reduced the fine to €10m. CAS said some of the allegations were “out of time” (ie happened but too long ago), some were unproven.

Coincidentally in December 2018 - the EPL started investigating City, over those original leaks which had prompted Uefa’s investigation. EPL don’t have a time bar on offences … and could also accuse City of handing them (EPL) false info to pass on to UEFA for the FFP checks.

It’s emerged this week that City took the EPL to court over their concerns about the Arbitration process the EPL were using - City had a judgment they didn’t like at the High Court, then a hush-hush hearing at the Court of Appeal. City’s legal team argued to the CoApp that they didn’t want the case (challenging the jurisdiction of Premier League arbitrators to investigate them) reported …. they were also fighting a request (presumably made by the EPL arbitrators) to disclose documents and information to the Arb panel. Might need another 6 months for that of course.

Naturally enough, the EPL supported City’s argument that everything should stay top secret. But it still wanted the arbitrators to crack on unhindered and get their disclosures.

    Tuesday 20th July 2021 judgment -

The CoApp said - no need for it to be secret; City should play ball with the arbitrators.

The Judge at CoApp also commented “This is an investigation which commenced in December 2018. It is surprising, and a matter of legitimate public concern, that so little progress has been made after two and a half years – during which, it may be noted, the club has twice been crowned as Premier League champions,” - you can replace certain words in there with ‘club has teetered on the edge of the relegation zone’, ‘been stuck with Bruce’, ‘hampered in development and recruitment’ can’t you?

Oh, and the Premier League declined to comment.

“I’m going to grit my teeth and see it through to a conclusion that may or may not result in it happening, I remain pessimistic, but I accept the reality that there’s a chance”

(not as snappy; wouldn’t work on a tee shirt; but it’s my mantra :emoticon-0105-wink:)

That Athletic article is the nail on the head. CAT is not going to resolve this - believing otherwise is pure denialism.

I invite you to - grit your teeth and see it through to a conclusion that may or may not result in it happening, you can remain pessimistic, but you can also choose to accept the reality that there’s a chance

even if you only do that so you can continue to come in here and utter cautious words to the Munsons without being told to “**** off out of the takeover thread then!:emoticon-0105-wink:
