It's getting crazy sounds like some big money being made . Noticed the E bikes have shot up a fair bit
It's unbelievable, we have a forest on our doorstep which is over run by bikes. The amount of young lads that have electric bikes is mad too, why they need one at their ages is daft, unless they have some sort of disability of course.
There's massive demand for e-bikes atm. And all bikes tbh. The pandemic closed down loads of factories in China and Taiwan where most of the frames and components are made, and due to loads of folk being off work and wanting to 'get outside' bike sales went through the roof. Supply simply can't keep up with demand atm.
Woman I work with was telling me about her ex husband Wouldnt buy a bike under £7,000 Shoes £350 Helmet £250 Cycling tops well in excess of £100 Etc . She said the amount of snobbery that him and his cycling friends had was crazy
Yeah I'm looking at getting one when I'm 60 . ****ing might be the same price as a Campervan the way it's going.
Yeah, it's one of those hobbies where blokes get pulled in and think they have to have the best/most expensive kit going. A lot of them drop £5k on a bike and then realise one that cost 1/3 of the price is good enough for their ability
There's gonna be a load of 2nd hand ones for sale in about a year. As folk buy them on a whim and then realise they ****ing hate getting muddy
What’s the big difference between say, a 500 quid bike, and a 5 grand bike? Is it comfort, or being able to go faster?
Covid tax, same as campervans, next year or so they'll be a glut of both and it will be a buyers market again.
I have a mate who has 2 road bikes and 4 mtb's, costing between £800 and £3500, absolutely no idea why, he has, no word of a lie, 26 different sets of wheels and tyres, it's an obsession.
Materials and build quality really. A £500 bike is good enough for pootling around town and the park. But you'd probably end up with £5k worth of dental work if you tried to send one of those down a downhill track, so you might as well spend the beanz and save ya teeth
Covid tax on campervans is chancers trying to cash in on 2nd hand sales though, coz folk are desperate to get away on an adventure. Bikes are expensive because the components are expensive, but there is of course a huge mark up for the bike retail industry But you're right, there will be a glut of both next year as people who thought they loved the outdoors realise they ****ing hate it and want to be indoors watching Love Island instead
Think I’m with you. So it’s the materials mainly? Not too many components on them, so I struggle to see how they could be ‘built’ that differently.
That's my plan, getting VW camper conversion in about a years time, I'll be popping to say hello mate.
