I’m neither positive or negative on this. I just don’t know like everyone else. Certainly I’m very frustrated by it and would love to know how the PL think all of this is in the fans interest. As yet I’m with Roy, still very hopeful until the fat lady sings.
Everyone has a view it's understandable but the people saying it's off and claiming it as an absolute aren't right. Until its off its still on the cards
What I don't understand, and I think this might give some idea behind this move, is why the club aren't screaming to the high heavens about the PL. They have never missed a chance to bad-mouth the PL before, so why don't they do it now?? İt doesn't make sense. Unless this is what they wanted to happen!! ****ing 6D chess or what..!? The lack of anger from NUFC makes me think of one thing only, ITS HAPPENİNG.!!
If it does happen I will just say that I was baiting Burnsie to get my opinions stated on an ITK Twitter bullshitter account.
Same reason why a tenant doesnt bad mouth a landlord whilst they are forced to live under their roof for at least the next six months. I would be worried that behind closed doors the Premier League will be trying the damned hardest to get you's relegated this season, then their problem will go away.
Nah we're going to be fine.. Since Jones came in we've been the 10th best side in the league and scored more goals than anyone outside the top 6 I believe
Just for the new guys I used to be the most negative person on here, but it's a long way back to the top. Just another few months
Seriously though, I am only investing another 6 weeks max of my time into this. If a deal hasn't gone through by the close of the summer window then I am checking out of football indefinitely. No following of the club, or the game in general, in any capacity and also having a social media hiatus, so no reading of forums like this one either. If the CAT case is thrown out or refused to be heard publicly over the next 6 weeks then that's me gone permanently. If CAT gets the green light I will just keep a check on things periodically but expect nothing but a compo award for Ashley. And even that could take another 18 months.
Th ats what we where saying back end of last season. For the record I’m personally disappointed it’s taking this long and also saddened that we have to wait even longer. We can wait and wait and wait. It may never happen. You said yourself debate about it and some people are debating whether it will ever happen. Just because it is not concluded does not mean it will actually happen. The one thing we do know is that as of today. After 17 months. The takeover has not happened.
If the Saudis really intend to see this through then I don't think relegation matters any more as they will buy the club regardless.
There s not many saying it’s off on here i don’t think. Maybe on Twitter. P.S we won’t get relegated either. There are poorer teams out there/
I'm fully aware mate I'm referring to the entire fan base. Everyone should feel free to say its off and why they think that, but this claim its off as an absolute and this demand that we should all fold with them and close the thread I ain't having yet. In my case I always said a deal will be done last minute before arbitration takes place... Its still possible so I'm asking to be allowed to see this through
Your allowed. And I still think something is going to happen. I actually think CAT will do more damage to the PL which is better.
I think the PL have probably fired a shot at Ashley and warned him they are still a member club and need to behave appropriately. I'd image the terms and conditions of being a member preclude you from disparaging remarks. I wouldn't read anymore into it. My take, as I've said, is that Ashley will sell this club when he writes the debt down and asks for an appropriate figure, around £220m-£250m. I don't think the PIF situation is real anymore, nor has it been real for a year or more. I think Staveley is pulling the same trick she did with Man City/Oman and Liverpool/Saudi's, where she does the work on getting the club to sell THEN she tried to find the money. She has convinced everyone that if it got approved, the Saudi's would walk back in - the issue doing it this way is the PL O&D test requires everyone named and ready, which she doesn't have. Yes, there's an element of other clubs being worried about a Saudi-backed club, no doubt. But I don't believe that's the full story anymore - as Jordan has pointed out, restriction of trade would actually be an easier point to prove if it was down to obstruction. Very easy. But Ashley hasn't done that. Also it's the PL, it's a NFP organisation. I think that makes things a bit more complex, because in effect you'd probably need to prove each club blocked it. I'm a legal idiot, though, so that might be wrong but it's feasible. I've just thought more and more that it doesn't make a heap of sense. Ashley has demonstrated repeatedly he cannot be trusted, it's madness to think he's doing this for "us". Staveley also has previous with football clubs, it's her "m.o.", in that she finds a willing seller first, then runs around trying to find a buyer and pick up a fee. I also don't think Ashley is that clever. Seriously. He's ruthless, he knows "shops", knows how to source, etc., but he's always been moronic in the football world and I'm not sure this is any different. I could always be wrong, usually am, but I think this one is properly dead - we'll get a statement soon enough - and it's not going to be sold for another few years until Mike smells the coffee. Not doom and gloom, just reality. The really sad thing is how people have strung the fans along so utterly needlessly. We can't just have a failed takeover, we have to be put through the wringer over months and months of false hope to really, really have the hope drained from you. But why expect different? Mike Ashley has been doing this for the full 15 years.
