Am sure that if you take, for example, vvd, Salah and Mane, out of our team, the rest would struggle!
that is a good point. the leap from karius and lovern to Alisson and VVD in one window certainly proves it.
Fulham are leading the race for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson as the Reds look to continue their summer squad clear-out. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool’s valuation of around £15 million will hinder any potential deal. @neiljonesgoal
Gini plays a completely different game for his country, so logic dictates that his play was down to what he was being asked to do for the club. It isn't all that long ago that Hendo was getting similar grief for fulfilling that role. I wouldn't blame either of them, both of them have shown what they can do if let off the leash. As for Hendo leaving - I'd have thought he was one of those players who has bought into the "LFC family" ethos, and it would take a major fall-out with someone for him to leave just yet. Perhaps in a couple of years when he may be getting less playing time and isn't ready to hang up his boots.
Hendo's current deal ends when he's 33. Is it the right thing to do to give him an extension and pay increase (I presume he's on £150k a week). That's a significant outlay for someone who will see less game time as he continues to pick up more niggles. I'm not completely against seeing him given a new contract but IMO, there are bigger priorities when it comes to contract renewals i.e. VVD, Mo, Allison, Fab
LFC Squad time: GK: alisson, Adrian, Kelleher ( 2 foreign, 1 HG) RB: Trent, Neco (2 hg) (I think we all agree neco isn't up to it) LB: Robertson, Tsimikas (2 foreign actually) RCB: Gomez, Konate, Matip (1 HG, 2 foreign) LCB: VVD Phillips (1 HG, 1 foreign) No 6: Fabino (1 foreign) LCM: Thiago, milner (1 HG, 1 foreign), Jones (u21) RCM: Henderson, Keita, Ox (2HG, 1 foreign) LW: Mane, Jota (2 foreign) ST: Firmino, Origi, minaminio (3 foreign) RW: Salah, shaqiri (2 foreign) that's 17 foreign players out of max 17 and 8 HG. At this point there's now room for more players like your malen or your saul fantasy rumours. After that then the discussion points: a) people need to go to make room to register new players. however selling HG players doesn't really help, Neco going won't help there. Phillips going won't help there, wilson going ditto. B the way I look at this is adrian is a waste of space but he's a nice lad. he's a good keeper but he is taking a foreign player slot. origi, shaqiri and keita strongly show up as guys who have to up their contributions to justify the slot they hold. Overall If we had money no object adrian, origi, shaqiri and keita would be moved on quickly and 4 players would come in to improve the squad. However I don't see us doing this really. Our sell to buy pot seems to be: wilson 10-13mil Grujic 10-13 mil neco 10 mil. shaqiri <10mil Woodburn nominal fee minamino 10mil max ojo nominal fee Taiwoyi 7mil (apparently) Karius (nominal or on loan) theres about 60mil there if everything comes off. LFC have spent 34mil, are spending 70mil on the stadium (which is good) If we have more transfer fund great but foreign players need to go or go on loan in order to allow us to register more players.
I personally think its in his head. just my opinion. You are right we ask him to play a different role for sure
he's been linked by a busy agent to a huge number of clubs, i hoe this doesnt mean a massive chunk of fee goes to an agent.
There is now the real possibility that Jordan Henderson will leave Liverpool this summer as Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the situation and will move for Henderson if the opportunity arises. [ @DominicKing_DM Sounds like Hendo's people briefing the journalists to get a better deal ...
Absolutely zero chance henderson leaves this summer. He has 2 years on his deal, we’d just let him run it down abs go on a free in 2 years if we were that concerned. Let’s be honest it’s not like he’d command a huge fee this summer if he left anyway. As mito says, sounds like his agent haggling for better terms
But this is the thing ... do we give him an improved deal? Taking sentiment out of it, he's 31 and is injury prone and his game time is reducing all the time. He will essentially be the next Milner which would be good ... but we will need to offload Milner soon .
my personal opinion is based in pragmatism. We don't have endless funds. Thus I would want him for another year and would see no issue with having him to 34 not 33 as his influence is not solely about playing. top top professionals setting to tone i nthe dressing room is far far better than egotists and divas setting it. My ideal is we would be able to twist his arm and say take it or leave it as we already have the 27 and 28 year olds there showing the way. We don't have them. ox and keita have flopped.
thing is, player acquisitions are treated as assets and depreciated over the length of their contract. It’s different to salary. So, it’s not at all evident what is available to spend. You’d probably need to look at what acquisitions we made that have been ‘paid for’ over the duration of their contract.
In general its about 40million for us, and give we spent 34 of it it means we are slowly bringing in more with players leaving but so far only small deals one, you are right though that lines of credit and what money is available under contract and various deals has a big impact on what a bank might hand you to throw at players. IMo our deals on jota and Thiago have been done against future earnings to enable us to afford both last summer. theres about an 18mil bill there as well.
