I think Aarons will go, my heart wants to keep him, but my head says that the money a sale would generate, if used wisely, would strengthen the team.
Which thread is it where we can see that "the level of improvement is considerable"? I keep switching between them but just can't see it so keep thinking it must be the other thread ..........
Interest in Josh Sargent Werder Bremen reported as 10 euro striker. 7 goals in 32 games for a team that was relegated. Doesn’t seem worthy of interest, but at 21 years of age maybe SW/DF see potential? Seems like a lot for a striker with potential.
DH picked that up earlier in this thread. On the surface of it he's similar to Armstrong in that he can play as a striker, 2nd striker or WR and at 6'2" he has the desired physicality. I wonder whether Webber has sought Rashica's views on his suitability here. €10m is around £8.8m, which is considerably cheaper than Armstrong, who has never played at the highest level whereas Sargent has been performing in the Bundesliga. One to watch like Adebayo, who DH also flagged up.
I heard on Talksport tonight that the reason Williams loan to Southampton has gone quiet is because Utd are demanding Saints pay a £2m loan fee and all of his £65k a week wages. No hope in this one for us.
DF on transfers: “In each and every area we must strengthen if we can. Centre back is one area, another full back option, in central midfield four have left with and we have brought in two with (Pierre) Lees-Melou and (Billy) Gilmour, so that is somewhere we can strengthen. Also up front. I think the only area we are not looking for players is goalkeeper. There is still some business to do but we have a good base. We just need the last final pieces and if we do then I have the feeling it could be a great window for us. Right now, it is too early to judge.”
From BBC Football's Monday Gossip column: "Arsenal have entered the race to sign Norwich's 21-year-old English full-back Max Aarons - also linked with Bayern Munich - with the Gunners keen to land a replacement for Spaniard Hector Bellerin, 26. (Express) They may have entered the race, but I doubt if they have the money to win it.
Club have confirmed a contract extension for Hanley, through to 2025. He'll be 33 by then. Big commitment to him from the club.
Don't follow that. Kronke has obviously loosened the purse strings as the natives were getting more than restless especially with the takeover rumours. Having got rid of a lot of deadwood they have already bought a few including £50m for White and £18m for the Anderlecht youngster. On the figures quoted they would not have to pay a lot more for Aarons than the get for Bellerin so I don't see money being a problem and I think that it would be a good move for Aarons as well.
Yokuslu, 27 year old Turkish international DM who was on loan at WBA last season, is apparently available for £5m. No idea of wages, etc, and he's much more a bruising midfielder than someone who'll play decent passes, but could be an interesting DM option.
The Aarons "race" is interesting. There seems to be a lot of people wanting to take part, and Webber has basically fired the starter pistol...but nobody has started the race. Can't tell if we're going to get a bidding war, or if it's just going to be one club puts an offer in and that's that.
I reckon it is all going on behind the scenes and that the Norwich board have said to buyers that if they leak anything meaningful, they’re ruled out.
Okay Yokuslu is DM who could also play at CM or CB (he's 6'3") and at 27 should be at his peak. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/okay-yokuslu/profil/spieler/137616 Like Sørensen, he would be able to play in a midfield 3 or a back 3 and even shift back and forth tactically.
