I think Charles thought better of racing hard as Ferrari Need the points, maybe a more mature head on his shoulders than some????
Very much agree, I think Max hasn't matured as much as I thought. It was like he was back in his early days where he wanted to win every battle and not consider winning the war!!!
Having watched the replays quite a few times, from all the angles the only person to blame for the incident is Verstappen.
I would say Max could have avoided the accident but Lewis committed and had no where to go, he didn't have grip to tighten line. Max lost the race through his actions, he could have easily won!
Yeah, I don't think he caused the crash, but I do question the approach. He wasn't racing like a man defending a large championship lead today, second place would have been fine. I said before that I still think Lewis has a great chance at the title despite the car disadvantage, simply because this is Max's 11th DNF since it last happened to Hamilton. It's not always his fault, but there's a certain inevitability of him dropping way more points.
Punt to pass (I'm sure alot of you guys told me when it was Rosberg vs Hamitlon, that the driver in front can put the car where ever they want) And Team Orders. Tut, tut, I'm sure I remember a previous Lewis saying he'd perfer not to win the championship, if that's what it tookto win.
It's always been the question mark hanging over Max for me, a little like it was in Hamilton's early career. There was no need to be defending so aggressively in his current position. It's a number game, and there was an eternity to regain the position. Let's face it, Red Bull would have simply undercut Merc and taken the position and walked away.
He’s crying like a crack whore in rehab, talk about desperation in his voice not to blame his own driver for hitting his rival.
Car disadvantage? Look at the teammates there's not alot between red bull and Mercedes just Verstappen had done a better job this season until today.
I am surprised Horner can keep a straight face. At one point on C4 interview he says it was a desperate last move for Lewis before Max was too far ahead, then in next sentence he says it was a pity as it deprived fans of a great battle between the 2. So which is it Horner, last chance corner or would it have been a close race????? Just realise that Max won't give an inch and sometimes he comes off worse. Look at how Charles dealt with the same thing. He gained points for his team, he didn't do the selfish thing and risk everything on a single corner. Still hope Max is all OK.
For me....The incident just is what it is, and it's what happens in racing when you have two drivers are battling hard. So blame is neither here nor there. I do look at it that Max put Hamilton In that position, had him along side before breaking, so really should be anticipating him being in the vacinity. Max has been incredibly aggressive in his defending all weekend, some of it borderline. He's made a statement that any attempt at passing could result in contact, when I'm not sure he needed to be doing that given his position.
And ultimately... I think even if he'd decided to leave more space.. I still think he might have come out ahead.
Why is David Coulthard calling Max Verstappen a Legend of Formula 1? I’m sorry, Max is a very good driver, in the top 3 currently with Charles and Lewis, but Legend, nope, he’s won nothing yet. Jensen Button and Nico Rosberg are Formula 1 World Champions but the word Legend is not a word I’d associate with either of them
