I think Bruce is safe until November.

Oct 22................Bolton away, will escape because away game
Oct 29................Villa home, lose and he will be told time nearly up

Nov 5.................Man U away, not xpected to win

    Nov 19...............Fulham home
    and
Nov 26...............Wigan home, must win both or will go

Thats how I see Short looking at it and it means new manager in for Jan window.

Since we're experts on managers getting sacked..I'd say that's very very fair. He'd be sacked NOW if he was our manager..

Not aying its right or wrong, just seems obvious the way the games are coming and the window works.

Syd, this seems a realistic opinion of the situation.

I also think a crowd of about 30k for Villa at home (should we get beat off Bolton) may also influence Short.

Personally, I'd give a new man the Wigan and Fulham games to build some confidence. Bruce has had far, far too many chances imo and not just this season but for the whole of the calendar year of 2011.

To prolong this any further would be a travesty and therefore, after the Bolton and Villa games (2 points is the very maximum we can expect to see as a return) I'd bladder him before the Utd game and let the new man look at it form the stands and get stuck into it for the next 2 home games which are both winnable and vital.

We are going to be bottom 3 by the time we play Utd so there is only one way to go from there - hopefully.

PS - happy birthday Syd. Just a pity the team couldnt give you a better present. Hopefully, Ellis short will before too long eh?

We need a striker in January window (sorry for stating the obvious). But the longer this decline goes on, the harder it's going to be to get anyone decent.
No decent player wants a relegation on their CV and wont want to get involved in a relegation scrap either.
So the longer Short lets this carry on, the more likely we're gonna end up with somebody like shefki kuqi in january.

Good points sam and dont forget, Bendtner may well get a better offer of a permanent move somewhere in January, which we wont be able to do.

The thing is I dont think Short will be looking at what striker we can get but who he wants the manager to be, the right manager with the right draw will attract the right players.

Keane attracted players because he is Keane, we dont that sort of manager or player now but you get my point. My own view and one without any foundation is that Short will not want an out of work manager, a MON or Hughs but a manager who he believes will take us to top 6 within two seasons, a Moyes type or maybe a foreign name. All gossip but for me, Bruce in or out is not the question, supporting whatever team is out is because by **** do they need it.
