now i've been very busy this weekend, having to work to finish a bathroom so i didn't even get to see the game. am i dissapointed at the result? of course i am, but to read some of the crap that has been posted on here has upset me even more!. virtually every player slagged off, is bruce finished posts, anyone would think that we were bottom of the league. ffs people don't get like supporters of other teams (no guesses who i mean) who seem to think that they have a god given right to be a "big club". we are still on schedule for quinny's plan and if we had been offered a top ten finish at the start of the season 99% of us would have taken it. if all of the doom'n'gloom brigade start shouting the odds at games then they might just get what they wish for. and if we are left bruceless and quinn gives up on us then we will be in the ****e

Top ten this season would be cool. Yet again fate is conspiring against us - we need another striker; but they are injured.... We need Turner - gettaway!.... Injured.... Need some luck.

Pre-season I'd have snapped someones hands off for a top ten finish. I'd still be happy with it, very happy indeed. However, the way things have panned out, I think 8th or below will be slightly tinged with a degree of disappointment bearing in mind just how good we've been for the majority of the season, and it could go down as an opportunity missed. I won't be in anyway angry or gutted if that happens mind, just saying is all.

Yesterday I felt we played pretty poorly for an hour, and didn't really deserve much. Nobody was particularly great, and I said as much in my match report.

I definitely do not think we are doomed, nor want Bruce or Quinn out, as they are building well, and have done a magnificent job. At the moment we're in a bit of a rut. It's a test of whether the players can get out of it quicker than last year, and will show how far we've come.

DMS - It's easy to get carried away, perhaps more so for some of our younger supporters who haven't experienced AS MANY highs, lows AND years following the lads.

Yes, it's been a fantastic season for us, made more so by some tremendous performances and some exceptional results, so maybe expectations have been raised too high... too fast?

My target was to close the gap between us and the 8th place team. My reasoning was simple (please don't say like the author) in that 7 of the top 8 last season (bar Citeh) have been in the PL since it's formation and they have benefitted from the income over that time - and in Europe!! To close that gap is NOT the work of one or two seasons. If we finish in the top 8 this season then for me we have over acheived, simples.

This doesn't stop me from expressing "displeasure" (ahem) at times, but it's tempered by memories of past nightmares, so I look ahead and KTF.

Anywhere in the top 8 and I'll be over the moon. We need to sign another striker and another cattermole in the transfer window, and maybe strengthen several other places. However, I think the way Niall has helped build up the club over the past 5 years has been astounding! I wasn't around for the division 3 years, but can remember the yoyo club we used to be. How far we've come since then!

We have come a long way - but there is MORE to come. Yes, we need to convert a couple (or more) of the loans into signings particularly the DM role and striker imo. SB is building a team, solid at the back but with skill and pace in front. The signings of late show this I think and I hope that this progress continues. We've been missing some key players lately, and although the squad has improved immeasureably there is still a way to go in building a squad that can play well (at home and abroad hopefully) even with 5, 6, 7 or more missing.

Glad to hear you got a buzz from yesterday - but if we keep losing when you come..... b****r off, and DON'T come back <ok> <cheers>

We'll be OK this season. We are actually over-acheiving,as in Reidy's years. However, this time,we will be able to take it on to the next level.Being an established Premiership side is a lot better than being a yo-yo club.

My main concern is the height of the current team. Muntari & Sessegnon look talented but have reduced the average height further. These players, along with Malbranque, Richardson etc are back for set pieces and our taller lads are stretched. Looking forward to the return of Turner, Welbeck and Cattermole (for his strength if not height).
