Yes . Will be my 3rd visit and wife’s first . I was there at Pouhoun in 1998 and at that time I supported Jordan
Been to a couple there - was at Eau Rouge when Zonta and Villeneuve decided to have a 'biggest crash' competition. To be frank, I thought both weren't going to get out of their cars!
yeah , they were some crashes ! We have tickets for the grandstand just after the first corner . It’s just a brilliant track imho . Mrs J said she wanted to go t one and what did I recommend . No brainier imho IF we get to go …..
Extraordinary lap from Lewis. Not sure what RBR were doing changing settings on Max’s car between practice and qualifying. He was so dominant before that. Incredible from George Russell too (and pretty damn good from Charles too).
Yeah that was downright bizarre from RBR. Lewis would have been even quicker had he not made a small error on his last lap. I suspect tomorrow after the first lap will just be a procession as no one will want to crash.
And Perez is out of the reckoning tomorrow. Whoops. Max on his own against the two Mercedes tomorrow.
Very unconvinced by this sprint format for Sunday pole - removes the joy of a single brilliant lap in qualifying. Use Friday Q for grid, then have a twenty lap sprint on Sat, half points, in reverse championship order for excitement.
Probably not but tomorrow is definitely a 2 stopper. No way you're getting to the end on 2 sets of tyres. Everyone also has a free choice of tyre so I think Mercedes may well split their strategies. RBR haven't got that option with Perez starting from the back. I think tomorrow will be close between Max and Lewis.
I quite like it. Was certainly entertaining and Alonso certainly benefited! For the lower placed drivers it does them a much bigger opportunity to progress up the grid.
Mind you it suits some tracks better than others. Absolutely no point doing it at Monaco for example.
Yeah, but it also gives drivers who have qualified poorly an easy get out. It’ll ruin the excitement of rain affected qualifying for instance. I just think it feels a bit forced.
If you’re going to do something different, make it different. Don’t mess with main race format, but like I say, do a half points sprint race in reverse championship order. Now that would be exciting.
