yes good points dai, maybe the players felt it wasnt a big enough game for them ?? bad day at the office then ??
we are not strong enough agreed but we have been hampered with injuries and fifa not clearing players we wanted also, now whether it is our fault on that is up for debate but we must spend a bit of money in January strengthening the squad and get rid of any dead wood whether on loan or permanent. we don't want to fall apart in the second half of the season like Blackpool did.....and they had a much better first half of the season than we are having, Im sure Brendan will sort this out but he must get in there early and not leave it to the last minute like he did last time...
We have been unlucky with injury thats true , but i feel the club were always going to add in january after we were left light in the summer, im hoping we can secure a top loan signing but im not sure how many we are allowed i think its 2
We're going around in circles so I don't see the point in arguing as we're never going to see eye to eye. Dai is right - worse performance since Rodgers was appointed. Maybe if you had not posted the ambiguous comment "real joke defending not by Monk but by the whole defence" that got me perplexed. Seems you were excluding him, then not. Still don't understand how you can blame "the whole defence" but not him. Maybe it's me. Perhaps "..not JUST Monk" may have made more sense? Fact is the whole defence INCLUDING Monk were rank. An inescapable fact in my book. You're right, he's carrying an injury, and credit to him for playing through that, but to me that doesn't excuse poor positional play. You HAVE to put the loss of two goals within the first few minutes as defensive lapses and Monk was part of that. If you disagree then fine.
have to agree with a lot on here, was it just me who saw this or was the midfield on a lot of occasions hussled off the ball by the bigger Norwich players? morison would have been a nice catch when he was available. anyway, i think we all agree, worst performance of the season, only way is up. i did notice on the stats that after 10 min on the field Dobbie was equal at shots on target with the rest of the side (2 may have been ineffective) but at least he has a go
I am a little disappointed to read so many "We were crap" type comments These comments was it just me who saw this or was the midfield on a lot of occasions hussled off the ball by the bigger Norwich players? & we are not strong enough agreed but we have been hampered with injuries probably sums it up better, your guys were out muscled in midfield on many occasions and that is where so many games are won or lost and the defence looked wanting on several occasions also. Most of you guys conceded you lost to the better team on the day but say they were rubbish or crap surely cannot be right?
Dobbie does always try his luck in fairness ,its a Shame the others dont! I may come across as being harsh on dobbie sometimes but only because i want him to do well. Its the same for the other players, i dont Think having a bigger mifield Will make life much easier as we have shown we can cope with the physical approach, it very often buys us free kicks as a result of our size.
agree Thai, totally lost to the better team on the day, hammered in the midfield when it counted, i watched Brittain pass 20 balls in 5 minutes and achieve sfa, live and learn and it was crap for 75% of the game
Thai- i give credit to Norwich for the win it was well deserved IMO. But i dont Think the game was lost in midfield, it was lost because of a poor start and lack of application defensivly . We Are always going to be pushed off the ball on occasion, it happens every game and is nothing new. I dont think our team performed well on the day ,it was the worst performance ive seen this season , and many others agree . It may sound like im detracting from a great result for your boys but it is not meant disrespectfully
I am sure there is nothing disrespectful towards our boys in these threads based on what has been said by the Swans on our board but what I am trying to say is..............yes it must have been disappointing to lose to what I guess you would call a team in your sights of nicking some points but there needs to be somethings remembered about the Swans. 1. Away form last season in the Championship was inconsistent, I think it would be fair to say there is no reason for that to dramatically change in the highest league against the better teams. If anything, as new boys, you will find it harder to get away points (same as us I would expect). 2. Remember how far you have come in recent years. Not that long ago, again same as us, you were playing Orient, Southend, Crewe etc. Although your rise has not been as meteoric as ours Swansea have steadily been improving the team over the last 3 or 4 seasons. 3. Both our new teams are the new boys on block and as much as our hearts wants us to succeed we have no divine right to expect it. Both our teams are likely to take a couple of hidings on certain away trips and even maybe at home. If it doesn't go as we hope this season we just need to take it on the chin and start again next season It's not always easy to remove the emotion when talking about our beloved football teams but it really does help if you can remain realistic but keep the hopes high for as long as possible.
Thai - as has been pointed out I don't think that comments about our performance were meant to detract from yours. But we were awful on the day. Thing is, you still had to go out and win, and you did without playing brilliantly. Like it or not this was a game we'd have been targetting to pick up a point or three as we see you as being on a similar level to us and I'm sure your manager will be thinking the same thing about the reverse fixture.
it was our worse performance for a number of seasons and certainly Brendan's worse game and i think ....well i hope that we dont see another performance like that for the rest of the season......one thing i will harp on about is we should have bought better when we had the chance , i don't mean better than what we bought but more players for cover at the time, i know we lost out on two players but that was probably our fault for being too late. I hope that we will bring in better players that we know are good enough in January and i mean EARLY January too. some of our players may have to go out on loan IE Tate, dobbie monk, Moore to make room maybe, but the fact is we cant carry any passengers if we want to stay in the premiership and no player is bigger than the clubs future however long they have been at the club, I'm sure we can stay in the premiership if a few tweaks here and a few tweaks there and around two or three new faces in January and we will be fine......it was a bad day at the office..
Question to all ... Jazz for Taylor in the second half - glad to see Jazz get a game, but seemed a strange swap at a time when we needed more offense. Was Taylor injured. Go to three at the back and adding Moore (on for Taylor) might have been risky but would have provided more threat going forward.
I was glad to see jazz come on i rate him highly , not sure if it was because taylor was injured, i thought it might have been because he was tired after the international game . didnt look very sharp in that game. Thai- you make good points , think most of us are aware how difficult it s gonna be to stay up ,we are under no illusions thats for sure, i think Norwich have looked the best of the promoted teams so far but its still early days. Im quite happy with where we are at but points against the likes of Wolves and your selves is a fair ask from the manager and fans . Good luck for the remainder of the season Thai ! , it s gonna be intresting ,frustrating ,annoying and pulsating !!
we should be 3 or 4 points better than we are imho, but at least there are a few who are having a worse start to the season than us...
You guys are lucky that you have your home form in a extremely good position, i know that its unlikely that a team would survive just on home form but take us last time we were up, we failed to win an away game all season yet only got relegated by 1 point i think, so its not the be all end all if you do have a terrible away season. But tbh i cant see that happening with you guys, i think once caulker is back and you get a bit of steel in your midfield you will be fine! Good luck chaps for the rest of the season, and im hoping your first points away come against wolves this weekend
