Pardew, in my opinion, is a wonderful manager and is normally very good tactically and with his substitutions. But there is one thing that makes me so proud to have him as the manager of the club I support above anything else. And that quality is honesty. Last week he admitted that Wolves should have had a penalty and a goal and said we were lucky to get away with it. This week he admitted that it was definitely a penalty to them and that he has no complaints. It is so refreshing to have a manager who admits that we had an element of fortune or to not be bitter about things.

Also, I am so happy as a Newcastle fan at the moment and I can't wait for the Wigan and Blackburn games as I am going to both! :)

  2. Sometimes he isn't. Smith should never be allowed to play, all he does is get booked and give away free kicks.

But i agree to an extent, he does show his intelligence through his tactics, and he could become a legend if he gets us into Europe this season.

I would agree with that. But it's not as if he starts and he is always injured so hopefully we will never see him play for Newcastle again.

Aye, like Hughton did in the championship, Pardeaux is starting to gain the real, honest respect from the stands. Not fickle or paper thin - proper respect and to an extent loyalty. If we go on a dodgy run (which we inevitably will do) Pardeaux will be given time and backing as we know he has the ability to set it right!

I wasn't at all happy with his appointment, but I'm more than happy with his exploits so far! Allez l'Alain Pardeaux!

The best thing about Pardew, as CouilleGaucheDeCabaye has said, is his almost denture like smile...

Must be hard to keep them that clean when his head is shoved so far up Ashley's butt...

The guy borders on sycophantic, always quick to praise the owner and those above him in interviews, even where the question doesn't require such a comment. For that reason, I'm out... ****, thought I was Deborah Meaden then... Anyway, the point is he's not entirely honest, and you can't be if you want to stay longer than a season with Mike in charge. Even biting your tongue in public, like Hughton, isn't sufficient.

He's done very well this season, but come on... If you've been going to games for the last 3 years, you'll know we've integrated some very good players, and the fact they are living up to potential now, despite that being higher than those Liverpudlian idiots on Match of the Day would ever give credit for, is largely down to Chris Hughton's efforts, and that of our scouts. What Pardew has done very well at is keeping the same spirit, and studiously ironing out things Chris would have come around to given the same time... He's also kept the squad together despite some major departures, so he deserves credit for that too.

As a manager, I'm beginning to appreciate him more with time, but, instead of jumping on a train heading either to "Pardew out-ville" or "Pardew is god-land", I want to reserve judgement on the matter and keep supporting the team in the meantime. Whether Pardew is doing well should be measured about the end of this season, rather than after a blistering start, in my opinion. Just happy with the signs at the moment!

Got to say I thought he had the team totally wrong yesterday and would be light in midfield with Van der Vaart being there. But I guess I was proved wrong <laugh>.

I don't know about honesty, he claimed he didnt gamble at the casino the other day! Seriously though, his interviews are just like Hughtons, refreshingly honest assessments. One of my big gripes about the likes of Souness, Allardyce was their reluctance to admit when the team hadn't played well. I mean for ****s sake, Sam would try and convince we were playing expansive carpet football, yet I'd spent 90 odd minutes watching bombs being launched to the two smallest strikers in the PL!!!

I can't recall him saying anything that was honest. He stuck his neck out and made soem predictions as to what the claub would do about signing players, but that's different. When he's talking about facts, as opposed to what he hopes other people would do, he has been straight as far as I can remember.

As for sycophancy, I tend to disagree. He is clearly trying to stay on good terms with his boss. Sensible enough. On the other hand, he praised Barton for his on and off pitch contributions when that clearly wasn't the Ashley party line, and came as close to criticising the board for not managing to sign a striker as he could and still keep his job.

As to the contribution that Hughton and the scout's have made, he's never said anything different

I think people are jumping the gun with Pardew and I withold my judgement of him until the end of the season! Some decisions he makes can be dodgy, lets see how he preforms when we hit a down slump!
