I'm not really sure what you expected. If you expected players to compete with Honeyman, Doc, KLP, Wilks etc, that was always a tad unrealistic. They're all worth 7 figures and we don't have the budget to bring them in. The signings have been good and without a doubt improved us. We need a few more, but we're looking strong.

It's not about what I expected (and actually my expectations were / are pretty low as I 'get' the reality).
It is about just questionning what exactly is the improvement some are seeing?
Why do you for example say 'without a doubt improved us'. Why does ST say 'we've signed enough to plug the gaps and improve on last season'?
I just don't see how we've improved on last season's team. Please explain.
I'd say we are about the same as we were (other than as said, the hope that the young high potentials continue their strides forward; another season older, wiser, stronger, etc).
Time yet, but as commented, a tad concerning that things appear to have dried up.

The recruitment hasn't yet finished and that has to be considered.

I think we're better but I don't consider Cannon as a replacement for Slater. AC, from what I've read is more box to box, and we're still trying to bring Slater back. I think he's more likely a replacement for Flores. That's a big improvement.

Same with Williams and Whyte, who we're allegedly trying to bring back. Plus Grant was watching Holland at West Ham's pre season game so it's seems pretty safe to say we'd like another wide player. Williams will probably take Mayer/Scott's position (hopefully he does better).

If the window ended today, we'd be short but there's 6 weeks ish left now and there's a lot of waiting on the selling/loaning club at his point. It doesn't really ramp up till August

Cardiff put out 2 11s a few days ago and Whyte wasn't in either. He looks like he's on the move imminently

Yep agreed, made similar comment last season as I suspect Grant is thinking along those lines given where he played him at times.

It seems to have gone very quite on the Terell Thomas front.

He is a vast improvement on the majority of reporters we have had covering us. Seems interested in what he is writing about and does some research.

Notice sometimes he doesn't proof his pieces as much as he should (or whoever at the HDM is meant to proof) see quite a lot of typos. Not the be all and end all but..

Can't resist putting that an ellipsis has three dots...<cheers>

Don't think there is such a think as proof readers nowadays. Errors which are obvious to most people, or should be, and which are sometimes down to predictive texting go unchecked. Not just at the HDM but at newspapers you would expect better of. Mind you, people correcting things are regarded as pedantic by some on here. At least when they are being corrected.

I once looked up the lyrics to that song. I wonder what the composer was on when he wrote it. He also, not Plastic Bertrand, sang it apparently.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he didn't sing at all on his first couple of albums?

Any article on hdm that doesn’t use the words legendary or iconic is a plus for me

I like Baz but this is awful. We don't know much about the restrictions but City's statement said we can have a squad of 25 'established' players, that's basically players over the age of 21. It's exactly the same as what we could have under the salary cap, although the plan was to reduce it to 20 in Year 2 of the salary cap, which never happened.

So players like Berry don't count as established players, neither do Greaves & KLP either.

It's sensationalistic crap from the HDM aimed at getting views instead of the truth. I suspect the club aren't best pleased about this morning's article.
