Something to do with Hojbjerg only wanting to join Spurs so tied our hands in negotiations. Everton were allegedly bidding more but he said he would only go to Spurs
Don't be "extremely reluctant". Do it or don't do it. If your problem is that you feel like Levy has rolled you, stop letting yourself get rolled. If a players says that want to go to Team X, but only Team Y has met your valuation, spare the crocodile tears when you agree terms with Team X. Otherwise, you're damned right teams are going to keep trying to roll you, because it works.
I agree entirely, but in fairness, one reason we allowed ourselves to be rolled with Höjbjerg was because we badly needed to sign KWP permanently. There is no such complication affecting our relationship with Hotscum this time.
I dislike Levy, but I find it really hard to get bent out of shape about a situation where, in order for us to get what we wanted, we also had to give Spurs what they wanted. If we consider the sum product of that be a bad deal, we shouldn't have made it; if we consider it a good deal, bemoaning how poorly we were treated is silly. I mean, you're basically just doing Levy a favour, by publicly portraying him as a tough negotiator who used his leverage to get a good result, and god knows his ego doesn't need the boost.
I so hope this is true. Anywhere apart Levy but said before, I think that’s where he’ll end up & for pennies. Maybe this is Saints tactic of upping the dosh?
Agree that all this talk of him just fans the flames and grows the monster! Frustrating as it is, you have to admire his stance/ approach. My day to day job involes high level, supplier negotiations and it does help that people know that you're no pushover. The infamous Cortese was akin to Levy and similarly hard to deal with; we loved the fact that we knew people weren't going to have us over.
I thought Ings was only interested in a move if it was to a club competing at the top of the league and in the champions league? Time will tell
