Morning all, I can't believe how this forum is turning out, every thread seems to become an argument rather than a debate. It was always a good community and that feeling is not here anymore. It's fair to say that the Liverpool and Utd boards have in a sense become one, which I don't personally mind as the majority of us get on. The sly digs though are pathetic and in my opinion should be kept to the banter thread. I just think we need to keep an eye on the abuse because it's starting to become like groundhog day on here. These are my thoughts, I would be interested to see what others feel about it.. Have a good day
agreed. some deliniation of the baords and common sense would not go astray. use the banter thread to banter and keep the hate out of it thanks.
Probably too many cross board threads. Whenever you get a cross board thread on an even vaguely controversial topic it all seems to go to **** quite quickly...
Use the banter thread is almost a default from me now when deleting posts. As mods we could be harder and delete more the problem is it can also ruin a debate for others. But I will try and keep a closer eye this week.
Now KPR has one I would expect it to calm down again. With the whole Saurez - Evra aftermath it is bound to happen. Hopefully next week it will be better again.
Its fast becoming like 606 ended up. The problem is there is no accountability for there comments, and its easy to set up another profile should they get banned.
I tend to agree with the above. There are the usual suspects who tend to initiate the spiral, which rapidly gets out of hand. Stick to the banter thread for all things banter and, yes, no need for hate. There was a great atmosphere in my local on Saturday, and it was 50:50 us and them. Strange but through.
I'm glad other people can see this as I didn't want to come across as a whinger But it used to be a laugh as well as informing to come on here but recently I'm getting a completely different vibe. It's a shame to be honest. I agree that the racist thing hasn't helped and also multi-board threads were always going to be a recipe for disaster. But come on we're all adults so lets play nice I love taking the piss and banter as you probably know, but when it becomes hateful and personally then I don't enjoy it one bit. And I can see over the past few weeks that's the way it looks like it's turning. Lets sort it out before it ruins our boards beyond repair.
I agree that there are too many cross-board threads and that they do degenerate very quickly. The ability to debate with fans of other clubs is really good. However, when it is abused by the "it's an open forum and I'll post where and what I want" or by a concerted attempt to turn threads away from their original topic then it becomes cancerous. We have had really good build-up threads with Sunderland and Stoke - perhaps less so with Spurs (despite the best efforts of the Mods) and I would hate to lose that.
I agree Dave. Overall the match-day cross threads have been a success, with opposition fans usually respecting others opinions.
Unfortunately, certain members on here are causing this and go looking for arguments rather than debating.
Here we go again. A thread set up to highlight the problems on the forum turns into..................
1. I think the long break between everton and utd lead to a lot of wumming. 2. I think the closing of threads needs to come back, when ones a wum its a wum. close and direct. there's freedom and there's freedom. 3. Overall multi baord threads.... maybe its time for a review. You've seen before and after so compare. But if anything should be passed back then it ought to be that some sort of use of the rankings or whatever on the side needs to be come up with so that not just anyone can start a multi thread... and i think they should be limted also. 4. total freedom = total anarchy so i think taking control is not a bad thing as long as it's not biased.
I think people should show more respect for each other's clubs, and for each other as individuals. I like banter, but so often what we get on here is pure vitriol which is passed off as "banter" if challenged. Anyone complaining is accused of being over-sensitive and told to "man-up", but it's the mindless name-calling that's childish. Cross-threads are a bad idea apart from match day ones imo. As has been pointed out, LFC and ManU fans seem to be joined at the hip so I can't see that stopping but we should try to prevent every single thread coming down to the same old stuff.
One reason why I wouldn't be caught dead on the banter thread, and when matters arise such as the situation between Suarez and Evra, we're bound to argue one another's corner. That's human nature. We get on in part, but in the most part we loathe one another. Just the way it's always been, although I'm not saying it's quite right. I was on Sport Witness, a site run by a united fan. It was OK in the beginning...
