I can see your point but to truly take the next step and win something we need to open up a bit.

Could do with some more depth at striker and at the back too. Hopefully Greenwood will fulfill his potential.

Most talented squad in decades! You think this lot has more talent than Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Rooney, Ashley Cole. Rio Ferdinand, John Terry?

Not a chance, imo. Southgate has given us an identity for this first time and brought all these players on. You should have a word with Thomas Tuchel about his outdated tactics. Tell him they don't work <ok>

Yeah, I'm just struggling to get into a serious debate with one or two on here, who never seem supportive of our club or country...

Hopefully mate, the old school lads at Man Utd are all of the opinion he's one of the most natural finishers they've ever seen at the club. We also have young lads like Bellingham on their way through. Saka still only 19! Sancho is only 21. Very exciting times.

I believe we done enough to win a tournament. We done just as well and as much as Italy to deserve to win it. Only penalties could separate us and with their aging defence, I fully expect we'll overtake Italy in a couple of years. Belgium have a cracking squad but that is also aging, the Euros was the last chance for their golden generation, imo. Spain and Germany are in transitions and will take another 2 or 3 tournaments before they're firing on all cylinders, again. France have got an unbelievably strong squad but they more often than not flatter to deceive. KTF

I only hope we don't field young players then use youth as an excuse ...

... I'm tired of hearing 'but they were just kids' when the penalties were missed tbh.

Yeah same here, if they're good enough to play and take the glory when they play well, they're old enough to be debated about like any senior player in the squad when things don't go so well for them.

Harry Maguire's father Alan suffered two suspected broken ribs before England's Euro 2020 final defeat by Italy, says the England defender.

Fans fought with stewards and police as they attempted to break through gates for Sunday's game at Wembley.

Maguire's father, 56, was "struggling to breathe" after being trampled on.

"My dad was in the stampede," Maguire told the Sun. "It was not a nice experience - it shook him up. He said he was scared."

Ahhh, you're a Sky Boy. That explains it. What's our identity? Score first and then act like we're sorry we did?

Yes, this lot have more talent than the Fool's Golden Generation. And application. And decency. What they don't have at the moment is license to attack.

I've no idea what this means?

You can't even debate your own views when questioned about them <laugh> - What do you make of Thomas Tuchel's defensive tactics winning the champions league?

It means you believe all that crap Sky shovel at you about the golden generation.

Club and international football are two different things.

Defensive tactics always get found out eventually. Relying on a perfect performance every time.

Sorry, I didn't know you were only meaning defensive tactics don't work in international football. They aren't outdated in club football, though?

'Defensive tactics always get found out eventually' - Nobody got the better of England's defensive tactics. The great attacking Italian team couldn't do it in 120 minutes never mind 90 minutes.

Defensive tactics doesn't mean you choose to defend all game. It's more to do with controlling the possession and building up at a small methodical pace so even if you lose possession, you don't lose your shape.

In club football you can get players in who suit what you want to play. International football is all about culture, because that's where your young kids have grown up. It's whay the Italians love defending with a bit of individuality up front, why the Germans are like a machine, why Brazil are all about flair. England are trying to play a style that doesn't suit what we've got to choose from. As I said previously, English football is all about being up and them, in the opposition's face, and attacking.

We're currently playing to not concede goals and don't seem to have a plan for when we do against teams of equal ability. It's gambling on the opposition making more mistakes than you do rather than forcing mistakes.

I suppose it depends on whether you're happy getting to the later stages playing like this and coming a cropper against the big boys, or taking a risk and maybe beating them. I'd rather we lost trying to win than lost trying not to lose.

I've just noticed this top bit you added. Sky don't make me believe anything, I believe what I watch with my own eyes.

Are you trying to say Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips are better midfielders than Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes?

I'd say Rooney and Kane are probably on par.

Harry Maguire, John Stones, Luke Shaw are better defenders than Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Ashley Cole?

They've outperformed them where it counts. QF and out against first decent team versus SF and F. Whether and how they can take the next step and actually win something is what we're talking about.

Scholes isn't part of that group tbh. He gave up when it became obvious they were persevering with the two lads on the Sky posters who weren't clever enough play together in the middle.

Did you just watch this tournament? I'm not sure how international football can be about culture, that's ridiculous, tbh <laugh>

Football evolves all the time and so do club sides and international sides, style of football. Italians love defending yet the team they've got now by your own admission like to play attacking football? That's what you said...

The Germans are like a machine? ffs you are just throwing out cliches now. What do you even mean by that? They don't look like any sort of machine when we played them.

English football isn't all about 'being up and at them' and attacking. You've just seen Leicester win the premier league, Chelsea winning the champions league, doing the exact opposite. Arsenal had a dominant spell under George Graham winning 1-0, they were famous for it.

Like I said, football evolves all the time. Maybe you should allow for the same with your thoughts on football, too.

So you are agreeing with me, now? I've said we have less talented players but we are performing better with them because of Southgate.

You seem to be backing that claim up whereas before you were adamant that these players have more quality than Sven's team :)

Says football evolves all the time.

Doesn't see that every other major European football nation was playing like England are now ten years ago and don't any more.

You haven't presented anything that can justify the approach England took throughout the tournament.

My opinion is justified by the performance. Scored, sat off, tried to be clever, conceded entirely predictably, lost. Despite it being blatantly obvious that we were far better and more likely to beat teams playing on the front foot.
