Yeah, that's a concern. I think I've even mentioned exactly that on this board. I'm still more excited than anything about his arrival, though.

I'll ask the same question to you that the other poster couldn't answer. If we have been told our top targets are actually available for us but not until August. What would you do?
As I replied earlier we should have had bids in day after the semi. As we're playing catch up we should approach alternatives. Sometimes letting this into public domain gets the selling club to budge.

Bingo!

So you would rather we didn't sign our top targets and brought players with less quality in just so we can say we've signed some players before the season starts? I don't think that's the way to go personally.

As for the first bit. Who is to say the bids haven't been placed since May but we've been told to wait until there's movement?

I have to say, I'm one of them. Just smacks of a signing we've made countless times since we've been done here and we're still in this league.
Obviously I hope he does well for us.
True. Blackburn fans happy he's going not a great sign and the injury issues. There's a theme starting here this summer :( just wish we could permanently sign players on way up not down. Still we'll be behind him at the start. Hoping he proves himself.

Funnily enough people were making Jonny Evans comparisons with the young lad from City, now we are signing the other Evans haha

If we'd bid in.in may they'd be here now. And we were told they had a list of players based on both leagues. Availability of players changes all the time we should have 4 names for each position that were happy to sign. All should be good players. Remember reid went to sign connolly but was rejected, if he'd kept negotiating and failed we'd never have signed skp!

"He has been unlucky with injuries. He was injured when I arrived here but if you are an abrasive, attritional footballer you will pick up injuries.

"I don't know his perception of the last four years. We went down to League One at the start but we had a good season getting back up. We tried to build from there but Corry has missed a lot of it through injury. I remember him making his return from his head injury and scoring but breaking his toe in the same game.

"I pigeon-hole Corry as a destructive, simplistic footballer rather than being creative. Against Huddersfield (last Saturday) for example, we played against a team who play out from the back. Corry is made for that job because he is brilliant at reading people's eyes, anticipating and stepping in front and nicking the ball.

"Those types of players get stuck in and injuries are part and parcel of the game. Corry has had his fair share, definitely."

And Mowbray has some advice for any club wanting to get the best out of Evans.

"I think the best way with Corry is to love him," added Mowbray. "A club where he will feel really important."

What if we've been told to wait for players? Somebody put a link up yesterday saying Man Utd were happy to let players go but not until August. We might have been told in May we can have that kid we are after but we have to wait until August so that's what we are doing.

We simply don't know what's going on behind the scenes so give them until the window closes and then judge them. That's what most sensible folk are doing.

I understand that, just think some of the reaction has been OTT. He's never going to set pulses racing but not every signing needs to. And he could be brilliant. People need to wait and see.

Who do people expect to sign that will set pulses racing? We are in League 1 for the 4th season working to a budget. Supporters need to get real and hope that our recruitment this time around, under new ownership and structure, will get the job done and win promotion.

Players that we're interested in may have several offers on the table and want time to consider all of their options. We may still be negotiating deals with clubs who may not have been willing to talk until they were ready, for whatever reason.

There's no hurry, patience is the key, and there's no point in rushed, panic signings. The season we went up under Roy Keane, the season had already started before we signed several of the players who were key to that promotion.

As much as id like us to sign Doyle i hope we have another Centre back in mind aswell who is alot more physical. I know Wright can handle himself but Flanagan is like a human tooth pick and this lad looks like a bairn...

Xhemajli still has alot more rehab to do apparently so i havent mentioned him. The last thing we want is to drop vital points early in the season.
I remember Michael Owen at 17. He looked about 12!

Waiting and seeing doesn't sit well with some of our fans as they want a 'name ' to excite them, well were now a well established League 1 club ( unfortunately) and it's time the fan base got themselves a dose of reality.
As others have said wait till the window closes then comment, even LJ has outlined the problems were having transfer wise but that doesn't seem enough for some fans.

What if we're told that then they change their minds and we're left in the ****. Anything can happen and your right we haven't a clue what's going on behold the scenes. We can only judge by what's in public. Lots saying how wonderful things are but this close to season with this current squad I just can't agree. We can turn it around but need to fast. We've got to be at it from.minute one against wigan. We can't play catch up this year!
