It's just over 3 weeks away. No fullbacks holes all over the 11 and very low with numbers. We all want kids to get a chance but it spears they'll all be playing at once if we don't get a move on. We've berm left behind by most or rest of league. It's great to say we'll sign better than them but there's no evidence of that. Anyone not even slightly concerned has their head in the sand. We have to start well and at present that's unlikely
I’ll not lie.... I think we are cutting things fine to get a squad in place.... all fit... and accustomed to a playing strategy within a 3 week period
It's just not going to happen. Somethings up. The plan surely wasn't to gave this squad at this stage. Just got to hope they pull it around. We can't change anything but can see crowd showing their feelings if grigg Obrien and flannagan are part of 11 or even 18 in opening weeks.
I have said this before but in McGeady and O'Nien we have made 2 signings any other league 1 club would have made. Pritchard may well be one a lot would have made too. No other league 1 side has a prem 2 u23 side to promote players from, and we have 2 or 3 exciting prospects in the first team squad now. There are gaps in the first team squad but it is hardly the case we wont be able to field a team even if we have nobody else in by the first game (which seems highly unlikely to me). It is clear we will sign other players. If it takes until the end of the window to get the right players then so be it, we wont get promoted in the first 6 games, nor will we miss out on it. Johnson might just have to earn his money in getting players up to speed quickly but the better the player the easier that will be.
This is interesting. Solskjaer says they’ve lined up some loan moves for some of their youngsters but they won’t go thru until early August as he needs them in pre season before players come back from Euros. Galbraith anyone?
This is why our supporters need to stop getting their knickers in a twist. Good players take time to bring in and there's many reasons why transfers can take a long time. Thanks for posting this.
Great spot mate. It will be the same with championship players too in that they will be released once they get what they want from the prem. The old domino rally effect.
Transfer window is open for about another 7 weeks. If we can't get the good players until then should we just sign the ****e unattached players now and make do with that for the season. Would you prefer that?
No, I’d like to see some quality signed early doors and to hit the ground running when the season kicks off. No excuses for our summer so far - it’s not good enough.
How often are targets actually ‘available’? My opinion is we haven’t done enough and will start the season slowly. If you’re happy with our current squad then fair do’s.
You never answered the question. If we are told our top targets are available but not until August. What would you do? It's easy to criticise, so what would be your plan in that scenario?
You ain’t gonna get decent signings early in a tournament summer. Big clubs hold onto fringe players to pad out training etc. Im serene me.
We are in good hands, the squad is light , and it will be strengthened, we all need to be patient. OaU
Interesting article. For me the most important point from it is that for the first time that I can remember money is raised as a significant factor https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...ings-stagnant-market-says-johnson/?ref=twtrec
You do realise we need a number of signings? (If we fancy promotion that is). You can’t tell me a number of players are available but not until August… fair enough 1 or 2 that may be the case. It’s just hard to believe the club are going all out for promotion when you look at our squad and lack of incomings.
