albiet with a game in hand!

Do Celtic push the panic button now and replace Lennon or do they stick with him hoping that Celtic can turn it around?

Never saw the game today, just listened to it on the radio but by all accounts Celtic were rotten and the defence, again, all over the place.

It so could have been 8!!!!

We were awful for 70 minutes. The last 20 minutes put a gloss on it but the truth is we were awful. The defense is shocking. Yet again, we lost a goal from a simple punt up the field. No one in the back four seems capable of taking responsibility. I thought when Big Maj arrived he was the sort of no-nonsense, clear the lines type of defender we've missed for a good few years but he never seems to attack long balls. He always lets them bounce and the striker nips in and takes the ball off him.

Du-Ri actually played quite well going forward and got decent crosses in. How Stokes missed that sitter I'll never know.

Kayal looks completely disinterested. I don't know if he thought he was going to get a big move to the EPL in the summer or what but if he keeps on turning in performances like that he'll be lucky to get a move the English 2nd division.

Hooper picked up a knock AGAIN. Seems to be becoming somewhat injury prone these days. Stokes' goals were crackers. For a player often called lazy and disinterested it was him that dragged us back into the game.

As for Bangura? Let's put it this way: he looks less likely to score than Samaras <yikes>

12 points my balls.

St Mirren got their point against the monkeys. That has made the day a bit better.....but only just.

Disgusted with our defending. Kilmrnock should have won that. They had the best chances at 3-3 too. papers over the cracks.

Rangers next two SPL fixtures are away to Hearts and Aberdeen (who seem to be back on form) so we'll see where things lie after that.

Our next two fixtures are at home to Aberdeen and Hibs.

hopper never let the trainer on to have a look at his injury, did this in his first game against Blackburn as well, both injuries proved to be ones you couldn't run off

What would you like to see them do, Pud?

And to all-comers: do you think the board maybe feel painted into a corner by circumstance, unable to move against a man who, until recently – and maybe even still, I don’t know – engendered such an understandably intense tribal loyalty?

In purely human terms, it would maybe feel like a bafflingly crass and sad ending to push the man out the door. If he walked away, of course, with some stirring talk of “what’s best for the club I love”, this may solve the problem – whatever the “problem” may be.

If I try to put on a specifically Celtic hat, I’d look at the available alternatives and wonder if I might not be best sticking with what I’ve got for the time being. I may also ask myself if this was any way to repay a man who stuck with the club – and clearly gave of his best, even if this wasn’t good enough – whilst having his life threatened for doing so.

The hard headed may say there is no place for such sentiment in football. But actually, there probably is. And if there isn’t, there ought to be. I think roundabout now would be a pretty good time to give the guy a break, rather than running the risk of looking like the sort of people who were only ever prepared to do so if “winning” was still on the cards. How hard is it to profess a loyalty and undying support, after all, whilst homing in on the league? Anyone could do that.

So a few games of football have been messily blown? Big ****ing deal. He may only guide the team to second in the league? Oh no. My heart bleeds for your suffering, I’m sure.

Get behind him and crack on. That would be my neutral advice.

Perspective, people, perspective.

It's not like you to swear Psychosomatic.

Reminds of a time years ago when I met this posh girl from Surrey while on a conservation holiday. She spoke so properly at all times until one day she dropped something (I can't remember what it was) and she exclaimed "oh, ****ing hell!" It sounded so alien coming from her lips that everyone was shocked.

The funny thing was that it was quite sexually arousing when she swore. Sadly though, I was unsuccessful in my immature, fumbling methods of trying to get her into bed and take the horny swearing theory any further.

If you try your sexy moves on me, Stereo, I can guarantee you’ll have more luck. xx

(And yes, sorry about the swearing, I don't really know where that came from. It's another grey, rainy day here - my only excuse.)

Well, good for you and congratulations, obviously - but please don’t pretend you wouldn’t like a bit of posh boy on the side.

shining so dimly this season.
What the hell is wrong.? Why are the stars of last season that shone so brightly? Why are they so dim this year?
Kayal, Ki, and Hooper were among the best three in the league last season,
It is simply not happening this season. Is it Neil Lennons fault. Is it the players fault?
Is last seasons hatred and bigotry affecting Neil Lennon, as delayed shock.
We don't know because thankfully in Europe at any rate no manager was treated like
Neil Lennon was last season. We cannot continue doing as we are, we must improve.

Hopefully yesterday is the turning point of the season , to be honest can't see it .It's obvious there are problems behind the scenes , Kayal , Commons and Hooper don't look interested and the defence is rank rotten and that starts with the goalie , which is a disgrace having a third rate loanee

In different circumstances I`d agree with most of what you say psychosomatic , however , my starting point has always been that of bemusement at the board appointing a manager who has never managed before. Utterly ridiculous.....and , if I`m entirely honest I`m also concerned that Lennon - who seems relatively intelligent - couldnt see the potential ( and now actual ) problems with that for himself.

Hmm. I’m not really sure that I’ve ever once ventured an opinion on the managerial selections of other clubs, Rogue – I certainly can’t recall having done so (might be wrong) – but, at the risk of being annoying to others on here, I’ve never once thought it was a good idea for Celtic to appoint Neil Lennon. So we share a starting point, it seems.

I remember John Barnes being appointed and saying something along the lines of “Celtic will be a good place to cut my managerial teeth.” Excuse me, okay, but Doncaster or Brechin would be a good place for a former player to cut their managerial teeth, not Celtic. You may call this a prickly national pride in one of our great institutions – I felt similarly miffed to see Graeme Souness appointed manager of Rangers, to be fair, but I think that went pretty okay for them – or a simple distaste at the spurious logic which sees blinkered chairmen believe that a good player must necessarily make a good manager. Or, much worse: a fans’ favourite will be a popular choice – therefore we’re sorted.

This stuff annoys me.

And on a more personal, imprecise level, I didn’t feel he was sufficiently in control of his emotions to manage the onerous (and delicate) task of bearing the burdens of such massive expectations in such a febrile (and poisonous) atmosphere. Oh, fans may love the clenched fists and snarly stuff, but all of it leaves me quite cold. He’s one of us, they may fondly cry - and this may be true - but he’s certainly not one of me. As an onlooker and Scot, I felt Celtic (the institution) deserved rather better.

So that’s one thing.

We find ourselves somewhere rather different now, though, don’t we, following the events of the season just past? And maybe this all comes down to symbolism for me – and please excuse me, RL, I’m thinking on my feet, and may need to polish these thoughts later on. Anyway, I don’t know how it’s going to be achieved and I don’t care how long it might take, but I feel it’s really important – not just for your club, but for Scotland as a whole - that Neil Lennon leaves Celtic on a high. He needs to be seen to succeed on some level - any level – before exiting the stage and taking a bow before his detractors. I’m merely talking about the fanatical bigots here, those people who would see the man dead – and all of their grubbily complicit cheerleaders on the sidelines.

These odious hatreds need challenged face-to-face and met with a reciprocal fury. (And let's all just overlook his glaring managerial shortcomings for the moment. He's still learning - which he shouldn't be, of course, because he should have arrived at Celtic as the finished article, but it's too late to be worrying about that, no?)

Conversely – perversely? – this is where his ultra combative nature and snarly in-your-faceness may serve the poor man very well (in the longer term). I think he’d like more than anything in the world to see the thing through and I think you should all like to be there with him. And if I was a Celtic fan at this moment in time, I wouldn’t even dare to think of anything different.

Symbolism matters.

Merely a personal opinion, obv.
