Got stuff when Pickford made Jorghinio look silly. Just a shame we never had the balls to stick three pens in after that
He's a pathetic drunk, mate. He never makes much sense at the best of times but you have no chance at this time of night.
Huge respect to the players and the manager tbf. Getting to a WC semi-final and then the Euros final. Yeh we could've done this or that better, you feel that passion when the games are going on, but now it's over, despite feeling gutted and numb by the loss, I was already happy before the match today and accepted whatever happened it's been a great tournament for this England squad. As for Italy, they played some great football throughout the tournament (the best football imo) and fully deserved the win in the end, there's no shame in losing to them.
From the first group games i said that Italy were by far the best team in it, to lose the final on pens to them is no great shame
I was always worried Southgate couldn't turn a match, he put the wrong players on at the wrong time and seemed to have drawn the last 3 penalty takers out of the hat marked "don't let these take a penalty". That said I think he's done a great job in getting the team spirit England have been lacking for most of my life, but he's got to learn that, sometimes, attack is the best form of defence.
Well certainly a better effort than any other team than Italy A penalty shootout is definitely hard luck in a lottery.
Sterling hiding whilst letting a 19 year old take the do or die penalty was a disgrace imo Bollocks to all this we’ve done well to get here anyway so the rest is a bonus attitude. That’s a massive opportunity missed and as the game went on the minerals seemed to look like they were lacking and a 19 year old kid being given that responsibility right at the end sums a lot up for me. it doesn’t matter if Saka was ‘confident’ in training blah blah. That was a massive moment and I think it’s shameful that the bloke most of this country has been lauding as our player of the tournament and some fools even thinking he’s better than Kane went into hiding. It’s one thing popping up in the heat of the game when the flow is with you and it’s another thing stepping up to a pen. Won endless trophies playing for the most dominant team in England and watches a 19 year old kid step up, poor, very poor, I’d feel like a massive Beta male if that was me. A penalty shoot out is not a lottery or at least last nights certainly wasn’t since they were planned, hence Sancho/Rashford coming on with a minute to go…it was about minerals and we didn’t have them from those I expect them. Too many excuses…that was poor at the end.
Pickford, Stones, Henderson (he won’t play many more for England), Grealish and Sterling should have all gone before Sancho and Saka. Even DCL. let experience take them, if they miss it’s what it is. Can only praise the two for stepping up while others went into hiding.
They were **** penalties…Rashfords run up was pathetic. Him and Sancho came on because they’d been banging them in all week in training apparently. I won’t blame them but I’m not praising them for missing…saw some reet **** last night at the end, not good enough.
