just pondering. i was too young for football in 1966. we didn't have a telly. the first games i followed were on the radio about 4 years later when man utd and leeds took three matches to get a goal in the fa cup semifinal. my dad took me to someone else's house to see the final or the replay. can't even remember whose house it was. many years later i bought a vhs tape of the 66 final. some years after that i got round to watching it. having only read about it, i knew the scorers, and i knew about hurst's achievement. the big surprise for me when i watched the match was who england's best player was that day. i watched if way after that player had retired. he was probably managing. it wasn't hurst or peters, it wasn't my favourite ever player, bobby charlton. of course i can name all eleven. i've been able to do that as long as i can remember (just done it in notepad to check). alan ball. he was out best player. who is going to be the best player tomorrow? one of the obvious ones? one of the usually best ones? one that's been a bit-part player so far? one of those midfielders that i've watched a match and not even noticed (phillips? i know he's shot way over the bar a couple of times, but i missed the rest, unless, like several others, he rushed back towards a defender who passed him the ball and he passed it straight back, turned and ran back to where he was beforehand. never can understand the point in that). we'll see. fingers crossed it's in a match-winning cause.
Brady’s mam is Scottish I think. he’s harmless and a bit lonely. and I doubt lockdowns been very good for him.
There's quite a lot of bitching going on here. Is it nerves? We need to stay calm people. When we went 1-0 down to Denmark, I just reached for my nail clippers and gave myself a pedicure
I've got a 29 year old son, born in Glasgow.Supports football...Hull City and England. The last time I enquired about his sexuality,he claimed to be heterosexual. I also have a wife and 3 older daughters who won't hear a word against the English and the youngest one(who was and still is a very good female footballer),wears the red England top for England games and that has included going to the pub twice during this competition.
I can't quite manage my toe nails anymore but the ones attached to the end of my arms,on my hands are 'gettable'
