What you call it comes from your personal mindset. Your 'making do' is someone else's 'maximising the resources you have'. I will concede that we did make do last January but it's not the general club philosophy. There's a greater sense of achievement knowing you worked hard to get something or win something rather than being handed it on a plate. The lad whose dad buys him a new bike to enter a riding competition that he goes on to win will no doubt feel a great sense of pleasure but the lad who worked hard on his old bike and came in second has learned a valuable life lesson.

It's like comparing yourself to a city fan or an everton fan or a Plymouth fan.

I say we are bloody lucky but then I see people talking like we should spend like city.

The reality is the two kids you.mentioned, one is man city winning and winning and the other is us where one in a while we win but mostly we have to applaud the rich kid and get forgotten as also rans.

We make do. But we have a lot more to make do out of than others, hence we are lucky.

We will be selling a few to balance books and the types we are selling are the type clubs hunting bargains want so we have to wait and see what we can get. Hopefully a line of credit allows us to move on a target or two while we do so.

The little story about the two lads and their bikes could translate into lots of other situations. As you say, fans are very much like this. Win at all costs is very prevalent. The thing with city fans is that after a long time of merely taking part, the novelty of winning is starting to wear off to the point where they can't be bothered going to the games or joining in the street celebrations. I'm sure there are lots of them who enjoy winning the latest trophy as much as they did the first but generally there's an air of the enjoyment diminishing as the results become foregone conclusions. I don't ever want us to take things for granted.

    This is true.

You don't appreciate what's given to you half as much as what you've worked for.

Regardless of what the manager trots out, they've bought there success at an unprecedented price. It's bound to take the gloss off.

The issue I have with our model is that whilst it's great business sense and sound financial / risk management, it ultimately relies on massive over performance from resources and almost faultless spending. We have very little wiggle room for things to go wrong.

I just hope our CL and PL are not just one offs. I want a long sustained period of dominance.

I think i said last night kasper Schmeichel's two medals are worth 10 at city. a medal at city is a so what? its bought.

People accuse us of buying the cl and prem. Fine. we know we sold players to fund the big buys.

You're spot on. I think at first it must have been great for the fans to see their team win a trophy after years in the wilderness but then the point is reached were you almost just have to turn up, you are so much better. I enjoy the thrill of never being certain what the outcome of a game will be.

am not sure at all about him. Most of the time we play against very deep compact defences with no space behind or between the lines…..he needs that space imo

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems it's just them passing on some gossip from Football Insider (whose name contravenes the Trade Descriptions Act imo).

There are rumours linking us to Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid. Would be a cracking signing if we can pull it off.

No thanks to Adama. I would much prefer someone like Malen or Raphinha.

I think Traore is great to watch - he's like a cross between Robbo and an armoured car - but I don't think he'd be right for us.
He's an exciting player, but the end product isn't so great and I doubt he'd ever be more than a late impact sub for us.
If we did buy him ( and I think the rumours are no more than that) I'd support him of course, but I'd rather be entertained watching him play for somebody else.
