I must admit I take great pleasure in all the dissatisfaction at England celebrating. We are always judged by different criteria because of anti English sentiment. Italy’s celebrations were equally, if not even more jubilant. I thought they deserved that. They’d had a rough time internationally for a previously successful nation - even missed a tourney (we’ve been there). They’d took plenty stick. Mancini got his head down and got them rolling. For us, for a nation with such a successful domestic league, let’s be honest we’ve been floppy and disappointing for years. So in both cases, and for every nation generally, they deserve the massive celebrations you always see. It just feels like when the English do it you get all the “they always go over the top” “this is why you never win” “their arrogance knows no bounds” “giving the oppo fuel”. To be honest it just feels like a load of people with chips on their shoulder or folk clinging on to historical significance of our nations mistakes outside of sport. It’s pretty pathetic to be honest. Id love to return the sentiment and say this is for the Scots, the major European nations, all those harbouring anti English sentiment. But I just don’t care we are hated, it’s just comes across as incredibly salty.
Interesting that you now want a team that are recognised as the masters of using the dark arts to beat England. The Italians have cheated their way to more trophies than any other team in history, they invented cheating.
I don’t understand the problem with us celebrating getting to a final of one of the most celebrated tournaments. After the **** with Covid any nation would do exactly the same. It’s historic!
I don't care mate I'm English and my countrymen aren't behaving correctly. If we lose we lose and if we win win right That's my view on sport and I will not accept my country cheating.. Thankfully there are some that still care
I am just pleased that he has found another reason to not want England to win. I was starting to worry yesterday during the game when he was a teetering on yet another of his flip-flops. I thought it was going to be the kiss of death.
Tell that to Bruce when we have 20% possession and 1 shot and we win. Your also correct it is how we win. But win is the most important thing. Style comes second. Soft penalty yes. But their freekick that they’d scored from was not a freekick. It cuts both ways.
Oh come on mate. The thing is I'm keeping my moral postition here and that means when another team cheats my side ill have the right to complain. I'll be watching. Is it too much to expect that my countrymen to at least send the right message to sterling? He had a great game we'd probably have scored anyway Denmark were done.
Never a pen in a million years. Hard to tell from the angles, but to me Sterling felt minimal contact and went down. Looks a proper dive in real time. Must admit I hate cheating so it’s not the way. I also felt we were outplayed for large parts of the 90mins. Good team Denmark and I think when some of our fans sat down at kick and looked at the team sheet they realised just how many top players they have. Damsgaard is a superb talent. Their manager had them so drilled in every aspect, they were together. Over the 120mins I think even the most anti English neutral would accept we deserved the win. We dominated the extra 30 and the last half hour in the 90mins. We didn’t play well outside of the hysteria. Walker was unbelievable. Two centre backs solid. Felt Shaw was fairly average. Pickford shocking all night, but if I was Southgate I’d be thinking “right he’s got bud guaranteed shocker out there way”. I said he had that **** in him. Phillips did well in the last 30mins. However tactically and his quality on the ball in the first hour was killing us. Rice did well throughout. Sterling made some good runs but there was no end product. Saka got better but gave one of the most nervous first 30mins I’ve seen. Kane was excellent all night. All in all we found a way, credit to Southgate, has his own way and I don’t agree with the approach all the time, but he’s done his own thing and you can’t knock results.
Shaw fouled him he had both arms around him and prevented him rolling off him ? This is just pure mental gymnastics mate.. It's what fans do.. They say it's ok when they cheat because they've been cheated somewhere in the past. None of it is acceptable, but taking dives in the box in extra time in a euro semi is an absolute disgrace.. He did it vs Scotland too and the fans didn't like it, but this one was ok apparently.
Immobile has already taken the award for cheating attempts. It’s ridiculous to suggest England have done anything other nations don’t. I would prefer we didn’t but then I’d prefer all nations didn’t. The anger should be aimed at those running football because they failed to check it.
So essentially no international team deserves to win any game? Because they all cheat. That’s the game now. I agree with the overall sentiment though, I just don’t think you can win honestly when everyone else is cheating and therefore gaining an advantage.
We where the better team. Statistically. Pen was soft yes. But once it’s given I don’t care. Fact remains if it was the other way around they wouldn’t be complaining. Historically we have been on the wrong end of bad decisions so I’m taking this one as a win. Maradona, lampards goal 2 foot over the line. Penalty shoot out fails. Beckhams slip. Southgates miss. For Southgate it’s ironic that a penalty takes us to the final. That’s called karma!
All players go down to easily, but taking dives on the box in extra time or in any big competition is an absolute disgrace. If it was the other way around England fans and the press would be screaming from the rooftops and they've now lost their right to complain and their dignity unless they at least say no more of that **** please
