28 is no age mate. He has a good pedigree. Supposedly being worth £20m over two transfers. Also his time at Brentford, the best in business at what we are trying to do was a massive success. Just think it is time to build for the longer term and 2 year deals dont cut as after 18 months they are looking elsewhere.
2 Years with an option protects us from both scenarios. There are 28 year olds in their prime and those which are shot. We'll soon find out which he is, I hope he can improve us. Its all about physical and mental condition. We have only last couple of seasons to go by which aren't great. Brentford, Spurs and Norwich are years ago.
Embleton is a wanted man after Blackpool loan spell https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19421661.embleton-wanted-man-blackpool-loan-spell/ SUNDERLAND manager Lee Johnson issues a challenge for Elliot Embleton to earn himself a fresh contract at the club. Embleton, 22, has 12 months to run on his current deal after the club took up the option to extend his deal back in February. On the same day his new contract was announced, Embleton moved to Blackpool on loan until the end of the season and put together a string of performances that helped fire the Tangerines to promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs. Blackpool are potentially ready to test the resolve of Sunderland for Embleton’s services along with a queue of teams at Championship level but will be met with a hefty price tag if they are to prize him away from the Stadium of Light. While the Black Cats boss acknowledged the interest surrounding Embleton, Johnson says his objective should be to earn himself a new deal with his current club.
Fair enough mate. Time will tell like you say. Some family are Norwich season ticket holders and said we are onto a good thing. Hope it works. One thing is for sure we are showing ambition with signings like this when compared to previous owners went for the likes of Maguire. If you had offered me Maguire out and Pritchard in a year ago I would have snapped your hand off.
I see Cheryl lurking below , haway lass come and join in for the big match you are more than welcome pet
I've said it before and will continue to, but I'd rather we signed players on the way up than on their way down. Actual fees for youngsters on their way up is ambition. This signing I'm unsure about, but we need bodies soon.
Lichaj, Pritchard and a loan is my guess, things starting to take shape finally. I’ve tried my best to remain calm about it all haha
My take on the transfer window: We need bodies is the cry - we don't. We need the right bodies in the right positions, if those available aren't good enough for SAFC then jog on. Give the kids a chance - **** that. If they are good enough yes, they will get a chance especially under this regime, no better time to be a young player at SAFC to get a first team chance.....IF YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. Injured players - I've never known injured players get better as much as the do at SAFC. Xhemajli is turning into Mathias Sammer (hope he gets fit but honestly, nobody can have seen him to judge how good/bad he is surely?), others who we haven't seen in the first team get better in their absence, i.e. Kimpioka (**** for the stiffs whenever I've seen him) Robson was another, poor player imo.
