Will score about 13 next season I reckon. Very good finisher last season, any chance where he got ahead of a defender and had one touch with either head or a foot to put it past the keeper was in. If he had time to think about it he didn't seem to be as reliable. Unless Wigan provide similar chances they will be scratching their heads. Also his form coincided with the manager coming in and playing Mcgeady neither of which he will have next season.
Meh. Not arsed and clearly the club weren't either if Wigan are prepared to pay him more money that us
Can't feel anything other than complete indifference about Wyke leaving. One of them where the chemistry was never there, he had the passion of a dead fish and there were numerous frustrations with his game. Thanks for the goals and good luck...I guess. Maybe try celebrating when you score you might enjoy it.
He really struggled to congratulate other players goals, I remember him turning his back on O'Brien once.
A Agreed. I'd be furious if we kept him and paid £10k per week Nailed on Power cross-Wyke header to win it on 1st day of the season then
I can't fault Wyke for the move. Really good money he's earning there. That was a good read about Pritchard, cheers.
Sounds like he had offers from the championship (and us) on less money. Not convinced he will recreate his form away from SAFC, I think the manager takes a lot of credit for Wykes form since he came in. He said early on he was coaching him where to be in the box and it proved effective. He could take that with him and do the same but Wigan would have to be putting balls in like we (mcgeady) were. I'd argue the fact he did nothing under previous managers and has never hit that kind of form in his career points to it not happening.
Yes. From Wyke's perspective I completely understand it: More money - its his last big contract and he's not earned that much in his career. Its not like he's made for life even. He's come from the lower leagues not the Prem He's just scored 31 goals here and still most of our fans don't think he's good enough. I'm one of those fans so I'm not criticising anybody. But if I were him I'd be wondering what I had to do to be loved here. And it clearly won't happen, so why not move to a club with lower expectations that might love him? has been here 3 years and we haven't gone up - so staying here to have a good chance of going up isn't as attractive as we might think it is Wigan have been investing heavily and so could arguably also feel confident about having a decent chance of promotion
tbh the way our fans are going on on twitter would look and feel massively overboard to any non-Sunderland fan. So they probably see it as sour grapes. It happens with signings all the time.
They seem to think Wyke guarantees them promotion, well we never got promoted while he was here. Unless they play a very specific way, wouldn't surprise me if he gets between 10 and 15 goals.
