Semi final 1 this evening, although we still have a very tricky Denmark to navigate, I really want Spain to win tonight as I don't fancy us against Italy.
I still maintain Italy aren't as good as people make them out to be. I feared Belgium a lot more than them. Whoever wins tonight will be praying Denmark win tomorrow as the prospect of facing England at Wembley in the final is far more daunting than Italy are to England IMO.
Belgium don't have that great a team. Yes they have a few players that are just incredible (De Bruyne, Lukaku) but their ageing defence of Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Vermaelen is crap, let alone the fact they have very little depth in the squad. I agree that both Italy & Spain will be keen to avoid us though. If it is an England v Italy final, I suspect the bookies would have it pretty much bang on 50/50 as to who will win.
Nah, **** that. Another day to bask in the glory. I’m going to enjoy tonight’s game, and let Saturday’s high wear off before embracing exultation or despair on Wednesday (don’t think it will be despair this time - and I’m never confident about football).
Euro 2020 fever hit the No7 household officially Italian 6ft flag and bunting up in the garden for tonight, England one ready for tomorrow. Don’t want an England V Italy final. But I do. Strange times. Let’s get part one done tonight and worry about part two tomorrow. The way I see it is that if there is anyone I would want to beat Italy in a final it is England, so bring it on. It’s coming home.
To be fair I'llbe as disappointed as most on here if that happens and probably ban myself England-Italy final is a nightmare, but i'll take it.
I think tonight should be decided by cuisine (borrowed from BBC) So then, Paella or Pizza? Spanish sausage or a nice Salami? Omlette or Pasta?
Home made Pizza for me with anchovies and (not Spanish) Olives - a 'Pizza Napoli'. Why Napoli? A casa di mia madre Forza Italia!!!!! Forza Azzurri!!! " Fratelli d'Italia, l'Italia s'è desta"
Spain for me, as closer to my heart. Having experienced both Spain and Italy via old flames (lucky me!) I like the Spanish and Spain a bit more. Italy is beautiful mind, and I confess I've enjoyed their team this tournament. Credit where credit is due.
