Great story, the guy in the helmet built this bike from scratch, so his blind brother could continue to ride after losing his sight... please log in to view this image
Just read about this fire at a Driffield chicken farm. 25000 hens in a 2000 sq.m shed, that's 12 hens/sq.m. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new.../50000-chickens-perish-driffield-shed-5609154
Horrendous isn't it (the conditions as well as the news). That's the reality of factory farming. The reality they'd rather we didn't see. Not to mention that they're pumped full of antibiotics, hormones, god knows what. Ironically, when I was much younger, I worked among similar. Chickens are not the most sentient of beings, but still. And it's not really that dis-similar for our more sentient fellow animals. Not meaning to set off another debate, but it is awful. And we supposedly have the higher standards compared to most other countries.
Can't disagree with that. However there's cheap and there's cheap. I don't think it needs to be possible to buy a whole chicken for £3.
you simply can't make a serious point about the chicken industry if you're mocking the chick's language...
I've never really understood that song. She seems far too happy at being orphaned and losing the little baby sibling after her mother was clucking. It makes that smile seem psychopathic. I think they should be digging her garden up.
True ... and if people choose to eat that as food, then more fool them. Lot's of real foods that are far cheaper, far healthier and don't involve such unnecessary cruelty.
It's a good job they can! Reminds me of that post or article or whatever it was about the diversity & inclusion statements of some global organisations. Western countries all about rainbows. Middle Eastern countries, erm, no mention. Same global organisations. Such a clear demonstration of how hypocritical most organisations are, and how it's really only ever really about money. Hence Qatar obvs.
Language doesn't always translate well either In other news Nonce Finance are getting more social media mentions than they might have expected!
Gary Lineker remains the BBC's top earner despite agreeing to a pay cut of just under £400,000, the broadcaster has revealed in its annual report. Last year it was announced the Match of the Day host had agreed to his wages being reduced. Tuesday's report showed he earned £1.36m in the 2020/21 financial year, down from £1.75m. Radio 2's Zoe Ball, who also took a pay cut after offering to do so, is still the second-highest paid star on £1.13m. Last year she earned the same as Lineker's earnings in the latest financial year - £1.36m. Her current salary is actually £980,000, a reduction of 28% from 2019/2020 - the £1.13m figure takes into account her wages before she took the pay cut towards the end of last year. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-57722068
