Can anyone remember a time at Leeds Utd or anywhere else, when the star player and player the media and pundits were raving about is a DM? Usually the striker or attacking midfielder or the silky winger gets all the praise, but we have Kalvin Phillips who has shut up a few pundits and now everyones first name on the England team sheet
That’s exactly what I am trying to do but I am getting this race crap shoved down my throat in all aspects by left wing do gooders!!! a bit like yourself.
Wonder what kind of second season he’ll have now he has been centre stage and all eyes on him? Before yesterday’s game, Rio did a piece with an aerial view of Philips and Rice showing the off the ball stuff, how they fill space preventing a pass and they’re movement, it was quite good actually and might shut a few of the sideways passing moaners up. I cannot help wondering what LL would say about Philips now, I’m sure he’d still be critical of him
Phillips has held England back. England would have won every game 20 - 0 with Forshaw in that role because he is also an attacking threat, unlike Phillips who offers nothing going forward and his defensive positional play is also poor. Trust me, I played in goal once and you are all idiots for not being able to read the game properly
Uruguay were knocked out of the Copa America in the quarter finals yesterday by Columbia on penalties. Nahitan Nandez situation will now get resolved one way or the other. Going under the radar if Alan Nixon is to be believed, is Lewis O’Brien 22yo from Huddersfield who has been the only real star for the last couple of seasons
Gelhardt has taken very little down time during the break and has been working on his strength and fitness, he feels the sharpest he has ever been and realises that you need to put in something extra to break into the first team, Bielsa has apparently been impressed with his approach and how he has returned to preseason training
We have some players that need to step up and prove their worth. It may already be too late for a couple of them as Bielsa will have made up his mind already. Helder Costa, my view is that Bielsa saw something in him but as yet hasnt shown the fans what he can do enough. Jamie Shackelton, a kid we all wanted to succeed seems to have gone backwards last season. He will find it tougher this season as new players come in Iain Poveda, a player I loved to watch and thought was probably the most skilful player at the club. He also went backwards last season and we are looking to bring in another top winger Adam Forshaw has been out for 2 years. He never showed up at Carnegie this week to be assessed. Is he injured again or is he no longer required
we just got harrison for 11 mill, paid 16 mill for costa.......bargain for one, pants down for other....poveda will have to bulk up a bit for me to lightweight and no end product as yet, shacks looks like he could possibly benefit with a loan period to re focus himself, i think he is a decent player, forshaw isn't fit enough anymore for a top flight club sorry....we have to be aiming higher from now on
Looks like Shackelton might have turned a corner, read somewhere earlier that he turned up for pre season and beat everyone at the beep test. Looks like he has put the hard work in already.
Spanish media now saying Junior Firpo is now in Leeds for his medical and will be in quarantine due to covid protocols and Victor Orta has given him videos and stuff on club history and how Bielsa wants him to play……
"..... poveda will have to bulk up a bit for me to lightweight". If only Messi had listened to that advice .....
Bit of an extreme example, comparing one of the best players ever to a Leeds squad kid ....how about saying if Coco stopped clowning about he'd be as Good as Ronald McDonald!
