We just need that striker now, which has been an Achilles heel for City for many a year... Except when we had Tammy on loan.
Tammy was exceptional and we were very lucky to have him. Realistically we can’t expect to sign anyone at his level. However I’m hoping that Wells will find his scoring boots again if we can sort out the supply from midfield. When we signed him he was the highest scorer in the league in a poor QPR side, so he has proved he knows where the goal is.
It's been part of our achilles heel, but with the midfield of at least the past 2 years Messi or Ronaldo would barely have reached double figures.
Very pleased with the capture of another good footballer, but it's a very short contract that King has signed ? Nige knows we need a striker and quite honestly, Wells is never going to score more than a handful.
Probably because he’s only played 32 times in the past 3 years. He’s more of a cover for the younger players and help them mature.
I have this suspicion that Fammy's stock is not quite what he thinks it may be and perhaps he will end up on the same road to nowhere, much the same as some previous scorers who thought they were bigger and better than our club. Please don't re-sign him under any circumstances.
I understand. But just as the youngsters become good players, you know what happens, we sell them. Back to square one and it starts over again. Seems we're destined always to finish short of the mark. IMO we are a lot further away now than just a few years ago. Then we had saleable assets, other than Kalas I don't see the same now. Really hope the likes of Bakinson and Semenyo prove me wrong
I feel we’ve changed tack now in signing Nige , I agree though we are further back now than since we’ve been for a while. Hopefully Nige can set his mark on the team and move things forward, it won’t be easy in my view, I hope we give him the time needed and don’t expect things too quickly.
I agree, I think we have to give Nige time and space, we have tried LJ and his all stars, some good select matches but no league progress, we've shipped out or sold most of the super stars and now it's back to good honest basics. The day of reckoning is on us, we new it was coming, illusions are out of the window, we can now progress forward in a professional fashion and about time.
Obviously Nige still has to work to SL’s rules to a point, but he wouldn’t put up with the level of control from above LJ as a young inexperienced manager had to, after all that’s why LJ was taken on , rather than a more experienced manager.
That's correct but he did have experience with 2 league clubs before joining us and had 4 plus years with us, SL gave him loads of space and support to develop but with MA pulling most of the strings he did have a tough task, maybe that will serve him well now. SL must have learned a lesson from the MA & LJ period and that is why we now have NP and his experience, let us hope he gets the same backing although financially times are bound to be tougher and more controlled.
