What you got against the guy?
Seems like a decent hard working guy, regardless of your thoughts on his viewpoints about COVID etc?

They were both complete arseholes. Not sure he deserved to lose his job over it though. If for no other reason, he was an estate agent ffs. I doubt anyone would've thought any less of him tbh.

A lot of people have respect for Chris Whitty it don't set a good image for a company, if his picture is plastered over all the tabloids. I've had this conversation before, a lot of people have to sign social media contracts these days, your image and that of the business you work for is important to your employer, anything that brings that into disrepute can lead to your dismissal. It's the way you hold people to account for their actions, outside the long of the law.

Estate agent, probably taking some young woman or elderly couple to view a property.....would you trust this man, his picture was plastered over every tabloid with Whitty in a neck hold. <laugh>

I can understand that, but if you extend that further, it also means he won't be employable either. Or at least it will significantly restrict his options. Seems a bit disproportionate a consequence imo.

Rival agents on the high street would defo be doing that. That would impact on new instructions from potential sellers moreso than the buyers.

He should have thought of that, before grabbing someone, who was unknown to Whitty on a public street. It might seem disproportinate, but I've known people to be dismissed for a lot less, for bringing a company image in to disrepute.

A lot of people have to go through vetting processes before they can be employed. An estate agent will engage with people alone, generally in unfamiliar surroundings. The job involves trust, he broke that trust when he confronted a member of the public and got his face plastered over every media outlet.

It's part of the process of people learning - like many he's had to learn the hard way.

Yup, I was just thinking that. What a knob. <laugh>

I expect poor ole Whitty wanted to keep it low key....but plonker boy thought he was being clever.

Fair enough. I don't think any more of the bloke than you do. I can totally condemn his actions without wanting his livelihood destroyed though. And whether he does or doesn't deserve that, I'm uncomfortable his wife and kids do if he has a family or anyone else if we're setting this as a standard.

Out of these two morons and the rabid mob who hurl abuse outside Whitty's house, I would class the mob as far more sinister because what they're doing is premeditated. I'm surprised there's not more vitriol towards them.

They should all be treated the same. Maybe a police baton around the head or a nice dose of pepper spray.

You seem to taking it as my view, but I'm not really stressing a view, just stressing the circumstances and that of his employer.

I'll repeat, it's the same rules for any employee and has been for a long time now, so as for standard, it was already the case. I've lost count through my job history the amount of times I've had to be Enhanced DBS checked, or sign a social media contract. You're as much accountable for your behaviour out of work as you are in it. The rules aint any different, the only difference here is the knobhead uploaded the video to social media, he clearly didn't care about the feelings of Whitty or his family, so not sure why you are crying over him and his.
