Noise in stadiums has and will continue to prove the point.

Wait - someone seems unhappy with the national anthem.....

Not sure if it's the concept, the words, the music, the arrangement or the instrumentation.

Anyway, my apologies for my part, but this bollocks has been done to death, and nobody is liable to change their mind one way or another, or accept that people's motives may differ from ones they like to presume they've got, so can we stick to football?

It's bad enough that they drag politics into the game, without dragging it onto here too.

A mixture of booing and clapping?

    Great.

    Overwhelmingly more clapping than booing.

It seems that way. It's happened a lot in your case with your empty viewpoint.

Talking about players trotting out inane cliches and you come on a football forum sounding like a supervillain in a comic book movie <laugh>

Them taking the knee isn't to pander to your whims and wishes. They're doing it for their own reasons, whatever they may be. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It seems like you hold football players as human beings with nothing but contempt and believe their sole purpose in life is to entertain you. It's a wonder why you watch the sport at all. You're not special. Put on your big boy pants and realise the world doesn't revolve around you and doesn't have to pander to your views.

It just shows the power of booing, if stopping doing it ends discrimination. <ok>

    Good point - well made.

I wonder if we will have an Opportunity Knocks style swingometer to monitor the applause/booing ?

So much assumed prejudice. Jeez im happy i don't live in your world.

I sometimes wish i was a callow youth. CLUE: USERNAME.

Spent too much time with ww2 vets who saw their mates bleed and die to defeat pointless nationalism.

No coincidence that these guys are now few and far between has led to the ugly rise of nationalistic bullshit once more.

Other than every post (at least) you've made since #276 earlier today. Very strange.
