As it stands, Sweden go through 2-1 on woodwork count. No ET

So it's the morning after the night before and we wake up to news that we have actually beaten ze Germans for the first time on over 50years in a knockout round of tournament football...!! If that dosn't make you wanna get up and shout 'Well done England' then I don't know what. It's a result that will carry some weight in to future rounds of the tournament as I do think they will put pay to the Ukraine on Saturday and they are going to do it Southgate's way. As I've said before, they are not an expansive side, far from it, hardly a great team to watch, but they are a team based on the back 3,4 or 5 at times and build from that. Southgate knows what his squad and team is capable of and he's set them up to carry out that plan and you can not knock it, can you...??

From my personal point of view the Kane goal is the whole reason why he has struggled to put the ball in the net as he's been playing with his back to goal all this time. That's the system we play, and it dosn't suit him. It's no surprise that Sterling has so many goals in this team recently as he's the only one coming from behind the defenders running on to the ball, Kane goes walkies looking for it and so when the ball dos come in to the middle he isn't there... Anyway he's scored now, so he's remembered where the bloody thing is now...!! <laugh><laugh>

Well shall see, it's working, why change it at the moment...

Who is the biggest threat to us going forward, probably the Italians or the Belgium's and they play each other next.Maybe all of the teams left in the comp will be fearing us so we have nothing to be scared of going forward.

Bring it on, well done to the team, lets see how far we can go now...

Err, well I got Belgium, Italy, England & Denmark correct, so 50% strike rate. Some people would be happy with that, but I could have got most of them wrong the way some of the games went...<laugh><laugh><laugh>

    So it's Quarterfinal time...

    Switzerland v Spain
After how the Swizz played against the French in the 2nd half then they should give the Spanish a right ole game. Goals a plenty would be the way I see if going with Spain coming out on top of a 3-1 score line... Spain, 4/6 to win, 12/1 a 3-1 win...

    Belgium v Italy
Err, the Belgiums don't concede many even after the Danes went 1-0 up in the group game they brought the big boys on off the bench at HT to save the match and take it easily 2-1. And the Italians have just conceded their first goal since Nero got stabbed in the back so it's a banker 1-0, 1-1 and pens type of game isn't it...?? But to who...?? I am leaning towards the Italians, and not just because I tipped them up but just because they do seem to have a lot of energy about them and that will be the deciding factor... Italy, 13/10 to win, 9/1 to win in ET & 15/2 to win on pens. 2/1 for the draw @ 90mins...

    Czech Republic v Denmark
Another one on paper that could go either way. Both teams scraped through to the knockout stages, the Czechs only managing to beat Scotland in their group, with the Danes also finishing on one win the same as Russia & Finland but they didn't make it through. The Czechs put pay to the men in Orange with a quiet taking performance running out 2-0 winners as the Danes put the Welsh to the sword quite easily in their last match. Both will be feeling good about themselves but I feel that the quality and performance of the Czechs against the Dutch just gives them the edge. 3-1 to the Czechs as the Danes run out of emotion and the tournament... Czechs to win 14/5, 14/1 to win 3-1...

    Ukraine v England
Probably the one I would be most confident of predicting is our up and coming victory over Sheva's mob. We won't concede, might even score a couple of goals as well, in a simple but workman like 2-0 win... England, 4/11 to win, 9/2 a 2-0 win...

    Simples really...:emoticon-0126-nerd: :emoticon-0105-wink: :emoticon-0142-happy

It would be a bit of a shock to lose against Ukraine, even if they weren't completely ****ed. 2-0 sounds about right as I can't see England taking any chances, but could be more

    Spain/Italy
Denmark/England would be my expected semi finals. I would fancy Italy in the first and I am concerned about the Danes but you’d have England as odds on favourite to get to the final.

<laugh> Yes, indeed, one can only laugh at such a stupid comment. Typical of him, he does this sort of thing when the opportunity arises, such is his consummate hatred of the English. Boris Fenster (my standard name for him amongst his countless pseudonyms) seems to forget that his country only drew with England who beat the Czech Republic and Croatia, whilst his country lost both games to them and were duly consigned to the dustbin of football history.

England aren't doing too badly at all for a 'worst England team ever'? I have been really moved by messages I got from my German friends down here, saying 'well done', etc., etc. They really took their defeat graciously, and were generous in their praise for England. How different from the hate-filled bile we get from this Glasgow webback?

    Shame on him.

are you guys actually giving it big licks for beating a poor, stale, geriatric, toothless, german team?

deary me, didnt realise it was that bad

yous really never learn do you, I will be back on to post a few smileys when yous inevitably get knocked out by the first good team you play, that will likely be the final if yous dont mess up against the minnows you have lucked into playing in the next rounds

was there anyone alive who fancied Germany for this tournament? im not sure, think there was one guy but he died after taking the Sptunik V vaccine

Scottish people don't support Scotland. They much prefer seeing England to fail. They even made their national anthem about us <yikes>

    Inferior complex. We understand ;)

Boris, I personally don't think they are strong enough to win this, but I'm proud of their efforts so far, especially from the defence and Jordan Pickford. You'll probably get your chance to hee-haw again. Never mind.

Yeah you go independent and place all your hopes on a dying fossil fuel <laugh>

Losing the football argument so turn it into politics. I guess we won that, too :1980_boogie_down:

what have england ever invented? golf, football, TV, the internet, penicillin etc all came from Scotland, and dont try to claim anything from when the Romans adopted yous

ok so you had the best rock and roll bands in the 60s and 70s, will give you that, but yous have been outdone by Scotland in everything else, even moden London was built on North Sea Scottish Oil

a bit of gratitude wouldnt go amiss

Saff, can't get this video clip in Germany, due contract restrictions. Could you give me the YouTube title for it, if possible. Thank you.
