    I think it’s inevitable don’t you?

    26,000 new cases today.

    and rising.

I reckon Boris will lock down tighter once they get above 50,000.

Agree with above that hospital admissions and capacity will dictate whether we go into another lockdown. Sajid Javid is a lockdown sceptic and I think it's telling that he was chosen to replace Hancock.

The big test is going to be in late autumn when hospital admissions rise anyway even without Covid. Our hospitals don't have the capacity needed to cope with a normal winter after years of underfunding, even without Covid. With Covid that could be the one thing to see some restrictions brought back in later in the year. By then it will depend a lot on how the vaccine is holding up in stopping transmission and/or hospitalisations.

Parts of the country have the NHS on black alert though chaps. I know that fro a fact. Other hospital occupancy was surprised and is now on the rise.

I thought I read that those hospitals hadn't gone to the that status due to Covid but due to a general lack of resources to cope with general sickness?

Genuine question and not a piss take - have you seen anything to show they're not effective?

Nothing to do with covid it’s a backlog from being locked down.

Not sure if it's the same ones Albert was mentioning, but the ones i read about were in South Yorkshire and Devon. The issue it mentioned in those wasn't a lack of beds but rather a lack of service and care to acceptable standards. From that I think it means it was down to a lack of nursing staff, though I could be wrong about that.

Translation: 'I'll make completely unsubstantiated claims to throw doubt on the scientific consensus about vaccine effectiveness, but then disappear into the woodwork when asked to show anything even remotely resembling evidence.'

Usual anti-vaxx tactics. They're not trying to win the argument, just sow doubt. It's just a shame that other people die as a result.

There is none - quite the opposite.

I think people are looking at the rising cases and the reluctance of government to let travel happen more freely and assuming the government aren't confidence in the vaccines.

Having said that, IF the government weren't confident.. and came out and said 'please take the jabs but we think they are ****' there would be hell on.

Each to their own I guess.

I have had both of mine, but having said that I wasn't convinced they would know (yet) how effective they would be. I'm not too worried about any major side effects, but wouldn't have thought they will know the effectiveness until they have a larger data sample, which we will all be part of. I think the worst that is likely to happen is that they are of limited effectiveness and would act as a placebo. The best is that they work and I based my choice on that thinking. I don't trust those in power not to be swayed by big pharma business if there were question marks about how effective it was, and also think only time will tell - especially in relation to new variants.

Its a good attempt to drag me into it mate, you've got a few standard tags in there too so well done on that front, but I'm just not interested <ok> I realise this is a disappointment for sheeple like yourself (see we can all use stupid tag names to describe people who don't have the same view as us) but I'm happy for me to do me, and you do you. You'll be pleased to learn that myself and @Joelinton's Right Foot have discussed things in a more sensible manner than you're capable of, away from the thread. As for trying to guilt trip with your "its sad that people have to die as a result", hmm it looks like someone is well versed in making unsubstantiated claims <laugh><laugh><laugh> The usual sheeple tactics.
