Do the league titles won by Man Utd under the Glazers make them competent owners?

You would think so wouldn't you? But if the Czechs decided to go "Western style",I wonder what would have happened? Another Hungary?

No its predominantly down to money - in those 20 seasons 90% of trophies won have been won by 5 teams all of whom have generated more income than us over the last 20 years. Maybe 4 other clubs have won trophies I wonder if you can hazard a guess to how many of them are currently in the premier league!

BTW we have had some shocking luck in semi finals and finals.

In all the excitement yesterday I completely missed the fact that Patrick Vieira will take over at Palace next season.

Risky appointment to say the least.

It is worth pointing out that, a few years back, The Sheikh Mansour Team parked him at NYC FC with an eye on him eventually taking over the big job sometime down the line in much the same way the Taurine Empire do

Interesting that he decided to jack that in and head to Nice

Did okay in USA but bombed at Nice. Sacked end of last year, not managed since.

A false reputational signing that will end in tears.

Strange appointment. Take away his playing career and his managerial cv doesn’t read like someone who is ready for a PL job. Seems like the usual of if you played for a top manager years ago then you will get a lot of chances yourself.

He did okay at Nice, getting a 7th and 5th placed finish (albeit the second one was due to the season being Null & Void) but it does have to be said that Nice's record against the main clubs (i.e. PSG, Lyon, Marseille) is W3 D1 L6 which tells a story and they were in the bottom half of the table when he got sacked

Odds are he was happy to sit on the sidelines expecting at least one PL club to sign him based on his name having some recognition to it

It's a very tricky job and it doesn't look like many managers wanted to touch it.
This is their current squad, if everyone whose contract is up tomorrow actually goes:
    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace/kadernaechstesaison/verein/873

16 players, one of which is on loan and two of which are injured. They don't have a right-back at all.

Yeah massive rebuild needed there. I still think someone like Eddie Howe would fancied the challenge though

He may think that taking on a club like Fulham could work out better for him and his reputation.
Either's a significant task though, in my opinion. You're nearly starting from scratch and you won't have much cash.
Free transfers, loans and the like are going to be key. Howe's probably generated enough good will to get some good ones in.

Good manager but he'll find it hard at Everton, I think.
Some of their better players probably want to jump ship after Ancelotti's exit and the fans will be on his back from day one, if things don't go well.

Or before day one given his past associations.

Personally, I think divisive appointments like this are bound to be a recipe for disaster. They seldom work out, especially when the fans are on the manager's back from day one. It's abundantly clear the large majority of Evertonians didn't want him, so he's going to have to get off to a very good start for things to simmer down. Otherwise he'll be under pressure very early on, particularly if fans are back in the stadium.

He also doesn't play attractive football and that's going to be a huge sticking point if results don't go their way.

I just don't see this being a worthwhile appointment for either person. Rafa seems like he's signed for them more because his family are still residing in Merseyside, as opposed to any foundational belief in Everton's project. Everton signed him because he's available, a big name and won't have to worry about compensation. A marriage of 'convenience', perhaps?

Perhaps Jack Clarke could go. Might feature in Croydon's loan watch if so.

All PL clubs should be looking at Derby and clubs in that
league under similar stress, with a view to giving a player on loan.

Apart from helping other clubs there is also far greater
likelihood that the loaned player will actually get a decent
    amount of match time.
