Good Morning. It's Tuesday 29th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds win race to land Junior Firpo

Leeds have won the race to land Barcelona left back Junior Firpo from the Catalan giants, though it remains a mystery who deserves credit for closing the deal. The Italian press refer to the Whites as ‘the club of Radrizzani,’ and have heaped all the praise on the Leeds owner; whilst in Spain Messrs Orta and Bielsa get the plaudits! Shall we say it was a team effort?

The deal in particular has upset Hammers fans, as West Ham fancied their chances of bringing the 24yo to the London Stadium this Summer; but whilst West Ham and Milan were happy to wait foe developments, Leeds registered an asking price offer of €15m or 12m pounds.

A reported five year deal worth two million a year (or £38,500 a week) is waiting for the former Spanish U21 to sign.

Leeds close to a deal with Uruguayan ace

Sardinian news outlet La Nouva Sardegna are insistent that Leeds have had a staggered deal worth €30m rejected from Cagliari chief Tommaso Giulini for the services of Uruguay International Nahitan Nández.

The regional paper are suggesting Leeds had offered to pay €15m up front on loan for next season, with a purchase obligation of €15m at the end of the campaign. Giulini rejected the offer, but stated that if they made two payments of €18m, they would accept it!

Nandez joined Massimo Cellino's former club two years ago. He has made 67 appearances and has bagged four goals.

Reports in today indicate that the deal may have stalled as their was little progression yesterday; but the signing of Firpo took up much of the day and Leeds will be looking to tie up the loose ends

Cunha - not on Leeds hot list

The Yorkshire Evening post have stated that Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha is not on Leeds Utd's priority list this Summer. The Hertha Berlin hitman is however someone Victor Orta has had his eye on for some time.

The 22yo began the 2020/21 Bundesliga season in incredible form, scoring six goals and setting up three in his first 10 games, and even though his form dipped a little, Leeds Director of football continues to monitor the versatile forward who can play up front, behind a striker or on either flank.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

So far its Leeds Utd 1-0 Pundits as nobody had young Junior on their watchlist and were and still are talking about Perraud and Galan. Hopefully this deal will get over the line quickly and i believe a medical is booked.

Fabrizio Romano has replied to a Leeds fan asking how close we are to signing Noa Lang and Cunha. He said talks with Brugge progress but Cunha not close and yes Orta has been watching him but no specific contact made.

The players return to training on Thursday, except for the guys on International duty. However they are not back at TA until next week due to development works being completed.wonder where they will be going on Thursday? Becketts? Guessing that fitness levels will be checked this week along with fat content and running around the track a lot <laugh>

    Morning all

If they sign on the dotted line it will be two nice additions. I say if as I still can’t get the Cellino days or Dan James incidents out my head.

In regards to Cunha and looking at it through Ortas eyes; he probably feels we need someone more prolific or at least very strong competition for Bamford…

Through Bielsas eyes; We have Bamford, Rodrigo, Roberts, we have Gelhardt coming through, why do I need a striker…

If we don’t lose a first team regular apart from Alioski and we get the two mentioned above that’s very good business Noa would be the icing on the cake but I still don’t believe Bielsa would be interested but who knows

I think we are in the market for at least 3 new players. LB, AM & LW so if we assume LB done and dusted it would be Lang or Cunha as the LW player leaving just an AM. But as you rightly say every player Bielsa buys can play in different positions. Lang can play LW, RW, AM and CF and Cunha can do the same positions as Lang and so too can Rodrigo. With regard to the AM if we assume Nandez is the target he is an International AM, DM and has just been playing as a RB for Uruguay onntop of his normal duties. So a player who can play anywhere in the middle or defence

Think this clearly shows that Noa Lang is a target so we can believe reports of conversations between Leeds and Brugge. But not opened a discussion with Berlin

Renato Sanches from Lille would be the icing on the cake.

So pleased we snatched the LB infront of Moyes nose, hes a terrible person.

    Renato Sanches's Swansea disaster

Sanches briefly played in the Premier League during an ill-fated loan spell with Swansea City and was an unmitigated disaster.

Swansea fans were understandably buzzing when they signed the highly-rated youngster on a season-long loan deal from Bayern Munich in August 2017.

But they couldn’t have been left more disappointed by his contribution over the course of 15 extremely forgettable appearances.

Swansea were relegated at the end of the season and Sanches had done virtually nothing to help prevent the club’s slide to the Championship.

On his first appearance for the club, Sanches managed to lose possession 14 times in just 28 minutes.

The nadir of Sanches’s woeful loan spell, however, came against Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge.

Unmarked and under no pressure, Sanches inexplicably passed the ball straight out of play to the advertising boards.

The poor lad must have thought the bull from the Carabao Cup logo in his peripheral vision was a teammate.

Paul Clement, whose reaction to the pass said it all, duly subbed the midfielder off for Leroy Fer at half-time.

Also my mantra is, never buy a player on the back of a decent international tournament. Look at Granite Xhaka yesterday!!
