So last Thursday or Friday it was reported that we hadn't approached him, and today it's reported that he rejected us One of those stories smells bad, and I get the feeling that it's the second one considering it's the same source that claims that Joe Rodon is on £10k a week
I said this a couple of weeks ago, I think it’s either Southgate or Martinez. Both imo wouldn’t be exciting so hoping i’m wrong and Spurs will pull a name out the hat unexpectedly
Or he just pre-emptively rejected us. In one hit he makes us look like a joke (not much help required) and makes himself look principled though all it takes is one bad relegation season at Brighton and he'll be forgotten as quickly as Christian Gross
One thing about Martinez is he's supposedly been given an ultimatum by the KBVB that, if he doesn't win the Euros, he's off It obviously hasn't occurred to the KBVB that, if he does win the Euros, he can be off and negotiate a better salary due to winning the Euros Although judging by how physically incapable the Belgians were at game management last night, while in comparison the Czechs pocketed the Dutch for a good half hour and barely broke a sweat, if that's what Martinez's plan is the Italians are going to give him a particularly rude awakening
Well in that case, I guess I'd better turn down the Man Utd job I haven't been offered so that Murdoch's Hate Comic doesn't have a lack of material for their back pages
Surely he has to be offered it first!! Looks good in the media to say that he wouldn't take it but when you haven't been approached it doesn't really mean much.
I've seen mention of Brighton expecting £20m in compensation In comparison, Bayern paid £15m for Nagelsmann In other words, if anyone has been rejected, it is far more likely that we rejected Brighton's request for £20m...isn't it?
some Spurs fans are a bit odd(nice way of putting it), is what I’ve learnt in the past few years They think this club can’t function without Levy and they think the team can only truly be run by Poch
I don’t get that impression reading most of the posts on here. Twitter might be a different story. I can’t speak for someone like PS, but my view of Levy is that he’s delivered on a lot of the off field investments while having a pretty mixed track record on the footballing side of things. That said, I think ENIC have been net good for the club and I’d rather have them as owners than an Abramovic or ADFG, obviously it’s easy to take a hard stance on that sort of thing when a takeover isn’t in the offering but I’d find it hard to feel like Spurs was the same club if an owner like one of them took over. I say this while acknowledging that ENIC as a business aren’t whiter than white. So while I will be critical of Levy and see him as far from perfect I still see his tenure as being better than a great many of the other PL owners and chairmen. Given what I don’t want from an owner, the only solution I would see would be a Spurs-aligned businessperson taking over from ENIC, but at the same time, what person with that amount of money in the business world hasn’t been up to something shady at some point. There’s no perfect solution to the ownership question IMO. But I have my red lines about who I would accept taking over from ENIC, as I suspect do we all. On the Poch side, I feel like even the most ardent supporters of his see why he was relieved of his duties at the time now, and while that situation wasn’t entirely his fault, he clearly has to carry some of the blame for the situation we found ourselves in at the time. My reading of this board was that most felt it was too soon for Poch to return this summer.
I'd be very happy with a better chairman than Levy and a better coach than Poch. On the former I've not seen anyone plausible suggested. On the latter I think there are probably a handful of possibilities but we will only know for certain with hindsight.
Generally agree. I think Levy’s on the field performance is better than mixed though. The three good managers all improved us, the others were not a disaster. As I've said before we can't easily get an enhanced version of Levy which would be the ideal solution. And while I agree that there were good reasons to sack Poch, I don't think they were sufficient. I think Levy thought that it was worth giving the 'trophy winner' Mourinho a try just in case winning trophies needed some magic dust rather than money, hard work and luck.
You could always call him on it with an avatar and/or board ban wager (you do have the power on the latter at least) ...
He has appointed three managers in his time who have taken the club measurably upwards. Problem is the managerial meh that comes between the reign of said managers.
Parker has left Fulham, he is expected to join Bournemouth, but now that he is free he could be more appealing to Daniel!!
