I'm going to celebrate with a roast dinner. Honestly, at the moment it is about getting the points and I'm relieved that we did!
Haven't seen the goals or the game, as I'm putting a new roof on my house, can't wait for MOTD2 tonight, RVP's goals sounded like they were crackers!!!
Not much to celebrate really, it was a lucky win. TBH Sunderland were poor, we need to do better against teams like this. We could easily have lost, such is the slim margin between us and them.
That's what people need to realise. Had Cattlemole not forced a remarkable save from 'Chesney, what could of happened? That would of been a 2-1 down situation which, given current form, would of been very difficult to get the win from. Unless you are relying on him making world class saves every game against struggling teams, I'd be worried by your performance today. 3 Points is a good start for your rebuilding, but no Arsenal fan can look at your performance today and be truly satisfied. I could of went either way just before half-time.
Yes, indeed. 3 points is all I wanted and we got it. We are building a decent run of home wins which is also good. As for RVP, wow. Thats all.
We played well for the victory but once again a defensive error (not clearing our lines), resulted in a needless free kick and goal. Though i have to say, it was an amazing strike from Larson. As for RVP, what can i say about RVP, easily our best player on the pitch, scoring 2 wonderful goals. However, the chip that hit the bar was the best bit of skill i've seen in ages! You guys have to see that one on MOTD. However, what was worrying was the way our confidence went after the Sunderland goal went in. We were comfortably in the game then looked all at sea after conceding. Not sure what Wenger said at half time but we came out much better and dominated the majority of the second half. Standout players for me was obviously MOTM RVP, Gervinho in the first half, Song showed some amazing strength in the middle of the park but let himself down with some poor passing. Jenkinson made some dangerous runs and Rosicky and Arshavin showed signs of brilliance. Overall the defence was good apart from that one error. Chesney didn't have much to do to be honest but made a great point blank save against Cattermole but went on a suicidal run outside the box, thankfully he got away with it. Overall a much needed win which will give us more confidence in the Champs league and Stoke at home next week.
While it was only for 25 minutes, we did play some lovely stuff today for that amount time. Really enjoyed our one touch play. Rosicky of old was back. He was slick with his passing and found some pace from nowhere. Had all those flicks and turns also. Arshavin also looked sharp. Finally ran at players and was beating them with ease. These two players on form can bring the sexy football back to Arsenal, so watching them start to get back to their best was really encouraging.
At times we played some lovely stuff, the best I've seen this season. You can't legislate for free kicks of the quality of Larsson's and before that we probably should have been two up. Gervinho looked a real handful. Rosicky looked like his old self, quality close control and passing, Song imposed himself on the game, especially in the second half and RVP, well, superlatives don't do him justice. Arshavin caused them serious problems when he came on and nearly scored a lovely individual goal. There were many positives to take from this game. However, there were some negatives. We got done on the flanks far too often and it can be seen clearly that the defence have not gelled yet and don't keep a good line. Also, as dangerous as we all know he can be, Theo made some really bad decisions when he was in some great positions. He could have killed the game off if he'd picked the right pass on a number of occasions. All in all though a decent performance and one that I believe has earned the team more support and time to improve.
3 points is always good, but I don't think anybody should be in a celebratory mood looking at the match. We're fine in the midfield right now (which is why we dominate possession so much), but when it comes to attacking the final third or defending our box, we just look so ... disorganised. And our passing has none of the beauty that you expect of an Arsenal team (and which you need in an Arsenal team; our superb passing is our biggest strength, and we're toothless without it). Van Persie's free kick is the only thing that saved us. It was lacklustre.
Don't play the game with me, mate, you know what you're doing. Get it together and stop being a kid about being told off.
Rosicky is a better playmaker than Ramsey at the moment, he was really good. Jenkinson looks so vulnerable, I fear for the guy. Arteta is technically good but must get out of his comfort zone. Santos may well be a better player than Gibbs. Koscielny had another good game, as well a Mert. All in all a rather positive result. Even Arshavin looked sharp. Walcott was below par though. RVP is the King of AFC at the moment.
Keep telling yourself that, mate. You know all too well you're not being told off simply for being negative; you're on here whinging every day about something or other, and then you start an e-crusade when you get called on it. Take your personal probs somewhere else.
