Different players imo. Armstrong is more direct with his running but Tadic was different class on the ball.

Sure. But given the choice, I'd take Armstrong. Simple as that. If we were a top 8 team again and thus Tadic more motivated, then yeah, might change my mind. But he isn't the type of player I want in a team that is struggling.

Yeah I tend to agree with that. Though Tadic did pull it out the bag for us in 2018 when we needed him to in fairness to him.

Tadic was a joy to watch when he was on it.

Tadic was a joy to watch, after he moved to Ajax.

Really? Under Ron he was incredible, especially the first season.

Definitely dropped off after that though. Except for 2018 where he almost single handedly was responsible for us staying up.

Agreed, great under Ron, hence my 'top 8' comment. Not so good though when we needed him most (apart from the B'mouth game).

Can you imagine Tadic linking up with Ings? Wasn’t Tadic quite complimentary of Hughes if I recall?

One of the more staggering assessments of Saint's players in recent years has been Tadic's performance after the departure of Koeman and under the auspices of Puel where there was a consensus amonst a fair proportion of fans that he had gone markedly off the boil. I have to admit that , for me, Tadic remains one of the best players in the squad during Puel's tenure and whilst he may not have hit the heights he achieved under Koeman, he still had more nous about him than his manager. Losing Tadic was a hammer blow for Saints. Got to say that I never understood how some on this board were critical of Tadic whereas Puel's dour and pragmatic football was cut some slack.

Who was cutting Puel slack? I always thought the reason he was sacked was that fans had got very vocal about the boring football we were playing under him.

I felt that Tadic didn’t put the same sort of effort in as under Koeman. When the team started performing poorly felt like he was frustrated and wanted out. Started playing as if he was enjoying himself again when he left, he would not have started playing like he does at Ajax if he had stayed.

Loose link to Chelsea youth player Tino Livramento. Very highly rated right-back.

Absolute fantasy signing Junior Firpo going to Leeds. Means they should be out of the race for Perraud, all be it with a better player
