There's very little Brian Clough in his prime couldn't have achieved. That's why it was scandalous that he wasn't appointed England manager after the Don Revie debacle and yet again after Ron Greenwood called it a day. Would also have been a great shout for us after Bill Nicholson retired. He could have a got another title for us in the 70s.
It's going to be Nuno isn't it, got the distinct whiff of the last minute petrol station gift on Christmas eve , wilted flowers, and a box of milk tray and a tow rope
Whilst we have got a lot of press for our inability to bring in a manager, we are not the only ones. Everton and Palace are also both struggling to get their appointments in place. I have never known it be so difficult to get these things done, I have never seen so many deals that were supposedly almost done only for them to fall through.
I can't help but think it's mainly down to social media, Pochs appointment SM was a lot less and Jose's appointment was done in a instant not allowing the ITN's a chance to stir it up
I think the financial impact of Covid is a significant factor here. Most clubs aside from those who openly money launder (you know who you are) will probably take a very cautious approach over the next 12 months until revenue streams have started levelling off sustainably. Managers who have built a career within certain spending parameters now suddenly have their hands tied. This was clearly a factor in Zidane and Conte's decisions to step down and was obviously the reason our talks with the latter collapsed. It's the equivalent of telling Nadal he can compete at Wimbeldon this year but isn't allowed to come within 3 metres the net. Now he faces a dilemma: maybe it's better to sit this out for a year and save face? That is exactly what Conte said the other week. Why risk denting a carefully crafted reputation because covid has tied your employers' hands? Wouldn't surprise me at all if Parish is finally willing to sell Zaha and Moshiri is finally withholding funds for the near future. Decisions like these make a manager think twice.
Ten weeks to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo? FFS, all we need now is to resign Frazier '****ing' Campbell. Absolute bollocks. If this was as a result of Levy's famous plan, it may be the worst ****ing plan of all-time. No wonder Kane wants out
Everton fans are also in open revolt at Moshiri seemingly having one name in mind for their next manager: Rafa Benitez As more than one Everton (presumably because they were taking the day off from booing) as soon as they drop any points at Goodison next season the fanbase is going to split as one side will immediately start calling him "Agent Rafa" and coming up with all manner of insane theories about what's really going on behind closed doors Now why does that sound familiar...?
I have now jumped to 17000 on the season ticket waiting list and have been offered a season ticket for 2021-22 season...the second time I have been offered one in the last 6 weeks. I was 19000 on the waiting list in May this year!
If I could afford one for the three of us I'd do it but the club have premised their income on a full stadium. Their ain't a hope in hell that the ECL games will be full no matter what the discount...the EL games at WHL were only a tenner for adults and a fiver for kids and they never got over 30,000 for the group games. There is a real danger that (apart from the big games) there will be a lot of empty seat for games against the less fashionable teams.
I’ve said the same mate. In a way I hope it does go like that too because it might then force this club to stop financially screwing fans over. I’d be interested to know how many STs have actually been sold, not too sure if there’s a way I can find that out or not.
Fabrizio Romano on our managerial saga: "The situation is CRAZY - i've never seen anything like this in my life covering managers." Only at Tottenham, lol.
On the other hand, David Ornstein says it's anything but One of these chancers who Reddit give far too much credit to is wrong
Obviously not everyone who has been linked has been offered it. But the amount of time they’ve taken to appoint someone has made it an absolute saga.
Hiring a DoF certainly stretched out the time, which wouldn't have been an issue if we just stuck to Hitchen's list
Even getting in a DoF seemed dragged out. And then since he came on board, the club have still dragged their heels, especially when most of the names linked are out of work so not quite sure why it’s taking so long
