Anyone else think that we should have brought bellamy on for downing or kuyt yesterday for the last 15 mins? I just felt that the injection of pace could have grabbed us the winner, but hey ho its a good point let's move on
I don't know why Bellamy isn't considered to start instead of Kuyt. I like Kuyt but still don't rate him as a winger, much better up front. But yea, Bellamy should have come on to get at their tired defence.
Yeah to be honest I'm surprised we're not using him as much. Every time he has come on he has been very impressive, so why aren't we exploiting that?
Perhaps Kenny would have been tempted to bring on Bellamy but then United made their changes and he may well have thought that doing so would have opened us up too much. After United equalised the side on the pitch then mounted a series of attacks that both pushed United back and very nearly won the match. So why would he bring Bellamy on? But the games gone and we should now focus on our next match against Norwich. Now for that I would like to see a forward line of Bellamy, Suarez and Kuyt.
I would have taken Downing off at like 75 minutes, Carroll didn't even get on the pitch so it was a bit pointless to keep the ineffective Downing on. All in all I feel we should have made more subs in the second half; we controlled major parts but it just wasn't working.
We rarely got in behind the Utd defence so I don't Bellamy would have been that effective. However, for once, I was praying for Kenny to bring on Carroll - we kept crossing the ball but rarely won any. And with a physically small keeper like De Gea, Carroll could have really bullied him. Downing seems to have faded a bit, he seems to get in Enrique's way a bit as well.
That's the problem. We will end up using him in unimportant games and his performances so far suggest we should be doing the opposite. Strange one to be honest, although who I am to question Kenny!
Once utd made their changes there were spaces to exploit and bellamys pace might have just done that, know what people are saying about leaving us open but bellamy also defends a fair bit too.
That's very true. He has a great engine and always tracks back, so if anything it would of been as effective defensively as offensively. Especially having the fresh legs at a vital time in the match....
I was shocked Bellamy did'nt come on, as soon as I saw the United team I thought he could cause them problems, I remember Bellamy making a show of Ferdinand at Old Trafford a couple of season's ago for City and I was hoping for a bit of that yesterday. We should defo be using Bellamy more, I thought he made a big impact when he came on in the derby.
I think Bellamy's temper in a big game against United may have got him in to some trouble. Plus Kuyt's work rate and protection he gives Kelly is very handy. Hopefully he starts against Norwich though as him and Suarez linked up very well in the one game they have played in together. Also, what is the reasoning for this game v Rangers? I may have missed it but it seems a very random time to have a friendly?
odd. Probs just to keep player rotation cus of no Europa league. Means Carroll, Bellamy and Spearing etc can get some practice.
