Only a good thing imo. A team could draw 1-1 with 10 men away to their opponents, then draw the reverse fixture 2-2 with 10 men again, yet somehow the team that’s had the 2 person advantage over 2 legs are granted the tie because they scored an extra goal, in an empty stadium.
So if its level on goals after 2 legs its 2x15mins then pens. Thats just more fukin game time I love the away goal rule, weve had some cracker results cos of it down the years. I don't think i even remember football without it tbh i can't be sure
Summin like that. So what did teams do before? Just play for a draw away and try win at home? Seems odd if so, why not just try to win both games?
Away goal rule is **** and I'm glad to see it go. Both teams play each other home and away, so both have equality across the tie. That's all that's needed. Seen too many games ruined when an away team taking a lead into the 2nd leg score and suddenly the oppo needs 3 or 4 goals. Kills the game. Binned off for the good of the game
I guess time will tell. At the moment i just see it as more playing time and maybe a little less excitement I'm not sure tho.
Didn't see any proposals on that Sky article about how they plan to resolve games that are tied at FT. Personally I'd go straight to Pens. Far more exciting than the away goal rule anyway.
Lol no arguments there. My only hope is we use it as a platform for our younger players. Ideal opportunities for them to get first team experience, even if it is against semi-retired bus drivers.
