We've got a chance and the players capable of beating any team left in the tournament...We've got real talent in the squad and are more than capable of scoring against any team if we up the tempo.

Have faith, Gareth's been holding them back, lulling everyone into a false sense of security?. I think....?

Two goals scored! Teams are going home who scored more goals. Just about sums it up. England boring the rest into sleep, good tactic Gareth!

IF we get past Germany this side of the draw is easier. Probably Sweden then Netherlands.

Got to break the habit of a lifetime mind and beat Zee Germans.....

We went through the group top without conceding a goal I’d rather that than be free scoring and out of the tournament.

I've been fairly critical of us slowing the game down and not pushing for goals....You're being ultra critical.Southgate has been 'cagey' at best but we've topped our group with 7 points, scored 2 goals that gave us 6 of the 7 and conceded zilch!
It's knockout now and he has no option but to attack the opposition and win.

Fair points. 2 goals scored none conceded against mediocre opponents, according to the likes of Simon Jordan who, on Talkshite, reckons not getting to the final will be a 'national disaster'.FFS where do they find them?
I'm fairly optimistic we can beat the Germans, but the final? England don't do finals. Always a first time since you know when, I suppose!

That’s one scenario, the other is that we are gash and our love affair with a major competition ends in glorious failure at the final whistle on Tuesday night. We can live in hope !!!!

i'm of an age now where ive seen too many tournaments and adopting this cautious game management job done approach is doing my head in.

this time round i would have preferred us to go out with the aim of smashing every team because now for the first time i dont care if we'd have gone out even at group stage.
we ALWAYS go out anyway so why do we have to suffer watching cack?

i'd rather be entertained once or twice and enjoy an evening in front of the telly and see us go out.
i want to be proud to be english and have a team that has a go, we have the players - or so we are constantly reminded so why not have a right good go at it?
sadly i know this just isnt going to happen.
a well managed 1-0 bores the pants off me. as a player or coach i would be delighted with that.
but as an armchair fan wanting entertaining it makes for boring viewing.

i like germanys approach this time round even though they are limited skill wise and we should smash them off the park.
only thing is they've had more attacks in a ten minute spell in one game than weve had in all 3 games. can we suddenly pull it out of the bag and match germany who will just carry on as they left off? scoring (but also conceding)
i do hope so and i hope its a great game.
but im not that desperate for us to win the tournament or even progress to a stage that someone deems to be respectable ahead of playing attractive football.

i think too many fans have been drawn into the clean sheet job done mentality. i would sooner see 4-2 5-3 games. sod the clean sheets.
i would even rather see us lose 4-3 and play good flowing exciting football. im really not that bothered about winning the whole thing.
30 years of seeing us NOT win the thing has sort of conditioned me to not expect or hope too much.
i'm getting older and wont see many more tournaments so i'm hoping something changes in the knockout stages.

in my 30's seeing england go out would have put me on a downer that could last a week or more.
    today?
    gimme 5 mins.
