I don't think it's necessarily that simple. It also depends on the priorities of any particular club.

Take the Marriott situation, I would expect P'boro to go really hard for him. It looks highly likely they'll lose Dembele, I think he's their best player. And while Marriott wouldn't be a direct replacement for him I think he'd be an automatic starter for them.

Now, as much as I'd love Marriott, I'm not sure he'd be an automatic starter for us. Despite the criticism he gets, we look a better side with Magennis in it. Throw into that Marriott struggles playing the lone striker role (from what I've read from Derby fans anyway), it would make sense why P'boro would push the boat out more than us. They've also not made a signing yet and the lads are back for preseason next week and fans start to moan

That doesn't seem to be a reply that has anything to do with my post!!
Not sure that many critiscise Magennis. Even fewer after his excellent performances 2nd half of the season, once McCann gave him a proper run.

Firstly how do you know we aren't a mid table budget?....

Do you really expect a puff piece on the official site to go into that much detail about which exact spot of the mid table grouping our budget sits? We have a midtable budget in terms of playing budget just as ehab said ( he hasn't lied ) . I just personally think it sits us towards the bottom of that midtable group of teams and I may be wrong .. if we had the 5th/6th highest budget in the league it would be top 6 and it would be described as a top 6 budget. Just as ours is midtable and described as such.

You really are being ultra picky just because your not a fan of theirs

And I mean this with the greatest respect, but you believe askews comment because it's what you want to believe and suits your thoughts and feelings towards the current owners

    Aye alright then.
Ehab said mid table, not bottom end of some mini league. None of us know for sure but I'd bet my house on our budget being near to the lowest in the division.
In some ways thats not a bad thing.
I just hate that we are owned by compulsive liars. We can't believe a word they utter.
    Ill leave it there.

That's your opinion and your fully entitled to it. I base my opinions on the conversations I have and the evidence I see and I hope people on here know that I'll will always call it exactly as I see it.

Ehab did say mid table and that's correct and a PR piece on the club's official website isn't going to go into anymore detail about that, I just went a little deeper as that's what my thoughts where.

Would you slate him/any owner if they came out and said we had a top 6 budget and you found out we had the 6th highest playing budget?

Haha thanks! I completely understand why some think and feel the way they do. I just try and say it exactly how I see it. If people chose to believe it then that's fine, same as if they don't believe it. Anyone and everyone is entitled to form their own opinions

What's happened here is, you've come out as the ITK guy and you're mixing titbits of knowledge with your own opinion and whether you mean to or not, you're helping to shape other's opinions of various ongoing situations. You seem to know about the sale of the club, the asking price, who is coming in, who's leaving and you appear to have intimate details of our budget for the upcoming season. This is why good news sources try to remain impartial, so they're not tainting the views of whoever reads the information they're putting out, although I accept that can be pretty much impossible as everybody always has an angle that reveals their own biases. Perhaps you could make it clearer by pointing out when you're sharing something that you know, something that you've heard as a rumour or when it's your own personal opinion.

But that's not really my main point, my point is:

YOU ARE EHAB ALLAM AND I CLAIM MY FIVE POUNDS.

I'm only joking but PM me if you need my address. I accept cold hard cash.

Fully agree with all of that! ( Bar the ehab bit.... I'm actually Assem ) I genuinely and honestly always try to be unbiased and straight, but Im a hull fan through and through and sometimes that will possibly cloud and or mix in with the info I share and probably sometimes even tint how I see certain things and therefore how they get shared and come across.

I know sometimes people don't always agree with me, see things the same as I do or interpret things the same way as I do and I respect that.

I wonder what Barnsley’s budget was, top, middle or bottom, because if it was a bottomish budget how did the ****ers get into the top 6 ?
    Does budget equal promotion?

They spent a little but massively overachieved compared to expectations etc. Budget never guarantees promotion, but it certainly helps.

Barnsley have some very close similarities to us in regards to team ethos, close knit, everyone pulling it the right direction, no more bad apples etc. What we have in terms of team spirit, togetherness and hunger is definitely better then spending a few million on a player to come in on huge wages which upsets the apple cart.

Thought it did? You're suggesting that us not bending over backwards to get Marriott means that our budget isn't mid-table, and Shark is saying it's about priorities and how much of our budget we want to allocate to Marriott.

That's exactly what I was saying. It's all about how you want to spend the budget. I wouldn't want to be making Marriott our highest earner, that just doesn't seem right and I'm sure P'boro would offer more. That's fine but there's a very good chance they'll be back in L1 next year. Whilst they've got some excellent players, their squad was paper-thin for L1, never mind the Championship. They also got extremely fortunate with how few games Dembele, JCH & Szmodics missed last season and they've got a lot of work to do in the transfer market.

In all honesty, I didn't expect us to sign any player from a Championship club, so our budget is bigger than I thought. Anyway, it really doesn't matter all that much about budgets and I've yet to see a player we've missed out on.

    Well, there we go. Outed.

-> (from Syd) "Thought it did? You're suggesting that us not bending over backwards to get Marriott means that our budget isn't mid-table, and Shark is saying it's about priorities and how much of our budget we want to allocate to Marriott."

Nope. Nothing particularly to do with Marriott (and for what it's worth I wouldn't want us to bend over backwards for him). I'm simply saying that Ehab was once again lying, this time about our budget. As Howden clarifies this 'toward the bottom of mid-table' malarky is his own interpretation i.e. not what Ehab actually said or for some reason wants us to believe. As time goes by we are seeing and will continue to see more indication that our budget is nowhere near mid-table; it will be one of the lowest in the division ..... and in some ways, in my opinion that isn't a bad thing as I don't want to see the debt increasing further.

What is it you're seeing or have seen that suggests our budget is one of the lowest in the division?

Sorry, not following. You're using the Marriott signing as evidence of our budget, and it's been explained why it's not evidence one way or the other.
