...for us to stop conceding weak, sloppy goals? It seems every week against lower opposition we have to concede at least one. The better teams will be more punishing.

I know, bad thing is that in the pre-match conference AVB said he wasn't concerned about leaking goals from set plays or when we are winning. Said the main thing is the win - which is true but teams like City and United will punish us.

Agreed. Maybe it's just the fact when I play I'm at the back, but I had conceding goals at any point. Next thing you know we'll suffer the same fate as Arsenal last year against Newcastle.

Wonder where our defence has gone in recent times, we use to have a defence that was near enough impossible to score against and when we was playing you knew as long as we scored we'd win. I think we need Cahill and a defensive and attacking right back like Ramos or Van der Viel, Bosingwas pace is good but his crossing is **** and his defending is ****

We need consistancy in who is picked at the back, we've always stuck with the same back four and they build up a team together. Now with Bosingwa bombing forward every game the right back position is exploited, especially as Bos isn't the best defender. Once Luiz is FULLY fit and playing more regularly with JT, we should be ok.

i'd love to see something along the lines of this in the future if bosingwa is to stay, - Luiz,Terry,Cahill all 3 at the back, with Ash and Bos bombing forward, Lampard and Ramires/Meireles in midfield with meireles dropping back and lamps attacking, then mata in a sort of left attacking midfield role with sturridge in a right attacking midfield role and torres up front so in a sort of 5-2-3 formation but more of a 3-2-2-2-1

We'd get raped in midfield and we're scoring quite a few goals at the minute so no need to take a midfielder out.

Yeah, I don't think weakening the midfield is what we need. Part of it is getting the marking on set pieces better. It was atrocious on Everton's goal. It's more than just the back four, although Bosingwa's attacking mindset does lead to some poor situations.

To be fair though we played **** today and had Super JT not got that 2nd goal at the death of the first half it could of been a different game, last few games we've been playing free flowing attacking football and today we just looked back to our old selfs for long periods of the game ( all the sloppy passing and giving the ball away ), thought Drog played poor aswell apart from one good ball to ramires. Looking forward to the game vs Genk in mid-week and hopefully we can get back to the recent style of football because we can't afford to keep having these spells where were so sloppy with the ball. Team for mid-week? Cech, Ferreria, Luiz,Terry,Cole, Meireles,Romeu,Malouda,Mata,Torres,Anelka i reckon AVB will play because Genk aren't the best of teams and QPR away isn't going to be easy next weekend considering they will raise their game as its a derby

I thought we looked ok, not penetrating but better than Everton anyway. With Mikel playing we're not always going to play fast fluid football, despite him having a quality game.

There is no doubt in my mind that AVB is changing our style of play into an attack focused side, with Ash and Bosingwa being used as wingers. Its a strategy that is bound to keep the fans and pundits happy, and guaranteed to score a fair few goals, but one that wll see a few go in at our end. What the hell if we score more goals than the opposition and get 3 points I can get over what ends up in our net!

I thought we did what was necessary today, without going overboard! We got the points and the only downer was the Ramires injury! As for Queens Park Queens, if we can't have them for breakfast after the boys down the road put 6 past them, then I will do the washing up and hoovering for a whole week!

As much as I'd love to finally annihilate someone this year, I've developed a very slight soft spot for QPR my university football club train at Harlington and their coaches work with us. I say save the blowouts for Arsenal and Spurs. They're the teams that need putting in their places.

Bosingwa dropped 4 points for me in FL. :( As did Enrique, Kompany and Richards. All should have had clean sheets. Ah well.

    Totally agree <ok>

If things really go our way I could certainly see us giving Arsenal a good pasting, as for Spurs they will be tough but at the Bridge they will be there for the taking for sure.

That's what won more titles for Slur Alex than anything, United always leaked goals but scored more up the other end. It works!

Spurs are the ones who really need it this season too.

Arsenal should be a must win in two weeks, hopefully we can trounce them and Torres can get a couple on his return <laugh>.

QPR are long time rivals of mine, a lot of my mates are QPR fans so it'd be lovely to shut them up about how well they'll do this season.

And Spuds, well, I'd love to smash them up but that's not really likely. Imagine the WUMMING that will take place if they beat us <yikes>. Ensil will be having an aneurysm <laugh>.

Anyone watching Arsenal v Sunderland? Lot of empty seats in there <whistle>

Oh God, I don't even want to think about that. He'd be more unbearable than usual, if that's possible.
