Still leaves us with potentially biggest budget in this league and I don't mean SD's idea of budget. Our turnover over past 3 years is signifacantly bigger than the rest of L1.
Oh absolutely agree. But the biggest league 1 budget doesn’t automatically qualify us to just pay big bucks fir players.
Not 10's of millions but £2million spread over a number of years I think is doable. We'll need to see how summer pans out to know intentions of those in charge though. No judgements just yet.
Not a fan of the “spread over” malarkey. We were stil, paying for Borini 3 years after he left! Villa spread the Bent payment over 5 years or something too! But if it benefits the team then so be it
nor do we necessarily have the biggest league one budget. Rich owner doesn’t mean rich club. He’s doing things his way and appropriately as you say. A lot of L1 clubs throwing cash around a bit recklessly it seems.
It's best way around current rules. Once back in prem we could look to pay most upfront but that could be some timem
We shouldn't be dragged into a bidding war, if as the rumours (and that's all they are atm) it seems Dion and his agent are using us to sniff other clubs out. We've been here before and it's a waste of time. If a PL/Championship club come in we'll be out of the running.
We should 100% try to sign the nest players we possibly can. He's one of them. Everything's rumour at the moment. We'll have a cut off point on all deals and other targets maybe that were persuing at same time.
Possible short sightedness from him but who can blame him. If reports are true and he wants Championship football then we can just move on rather than it rumble on all summer.
