Well we've got this far with just ten men and playing a style a la Puel. If only we had a centre forward who turned up we might progress.
I still recall the first time I walked into a rave tent at Glasto with a mate Slack-Jawed, Pop-Eyed and Wide-Grinned “Now this is my kind of Disco!” I thought
None of you are remembering how we would almost certainly have beaten Germany in South Africa if Lampard's goal had been allowed.
That game almost singlehandedly made goal line technology inevitable, and it came into use just 2 years later. If only…
True. That World Cup doesn't bother me much though, because Germany were better than us, and even if we'd beaten them, we wouldn't have got through Argentina - Spain - Netherlands. We were crap that year. The World Cup that we really should have won, was 2002, when we went out to that freak Ronaldinho free kick. We couldn't equalise in the second half despite Brazil playing with ten men for the final 40 minutes. The buggers then played Turkey in the semis, and a god-awful Germany side in the final. It should have been us! Can't blame the refs for that one though.
Why did Grealish go missing in the second half? Was it that he didn’t get the ball or that he was just knackered? If that shot from Czech had gone the other side of the post in the first half, I think England would have struggled to get another goal. I don’t find our defence particularly strong - they’re “ok” nothing more …… Whoever said that Danny would be a better fit than Kane, as Kane is getting marked out of the games and not mobile enough to pull the defenders out of position, is right, in my opinion. I’ll still support the team, but I really can’t see how we’re going to beat a really good side …. Penalties anyone?
That almost certainly is sarcastic right? We were utterly outclassed in that match by a fantastic German side who were the second best team in the world at the time.
