He is, but they bigger issue with taking Jesus and/or Sterling plus £90m is that we've added 2 players in position we don't really need to. Back up striker of Jesus' quality isn't something to be sniffed at, but there are better and more cost effective options out there. As for Sterling, with Bergwijn, Lucas, Lo Celso and Lamela all able to play in that RAM position there isn't an urgent need to add him to the squad (also from what I've seen, Sterling tends to play in Son's position anyway). We also have no idea what formation the <new manager> will use. In Conte's system of 2 up front for example, we'd choose Son with <new striker> and both Sterling and Jesus would barely get a look in. So we'd gain a back up striker, add a 5th wide attacker and have the grand total of £90m to buy a 25 goal a season ST, two CBs, a RB and a CM. If we're aiming for a part exchange deal, it makes little sense to reduce Kane's fee through vanity signings. Which is why when it comes to City, they either include Laporte or Cancelo or they can piss off.
Would sell Bergwijn and Lo Celso if anyone interested...both flatter to deceive too often What’s the point in Clarke? Non from what I can see tbh...he’s not breaking through Lucas I’d keep because I know he gives it his all at the very least every time If Kane goes then surely that is a position that needs strengthening...he wouldn’t be a back up, hes first choice surely? Don’t really think we are going to be strengthening our centrebacks...Levy is too stupid to click on to that urgent requirement.
Sterling’s an upgrade on all our wingers/ wide forwards bar Son so I definitely think it’s not someone we should turn our noses up at. Lamela will likely be off this summer, Bergwijn had rumoured interest back in Holland and whilst I think he’s someone who can come good I also wouldn’t be devastated if we sold him, Lo Celso should be sold (but probably won’t be) and therefore Lucas is the only one I think Sterling would/ should face legitimate competition from. Though that said, this part exchange deal won’t happen, no City player is leaving them for us. Unlike Spurly though I still have faith in Clarke. I think there’s a player in there but he’s had **** luck with loans and then an injury that ruined his season with Stoke. Not saying he’ll become a world beater but a potential decent squad option. I’d love to see him be a player that gets chances in the ECL this coming season under the new manager.
Laporte, Jesus, Cancelo and £100million would be acceptable. Although I’m guessing those 3 are all on decent money so not sure how that would leave the wage budget looking?
Not sure what those three would want in wages but Kane was on £200k a week and Spurs were paying Bale 300k a week weren’t they?
Bale was on his full whack but we paid him about as much as we paid Kane (c.220k IIRC), and Madrid covered the rest so the poor lamb didn’t go out of pocket.
So by selling Kane and Bale’s loan ending, the club have 450k roughly a week. That would more than cover the wages of Jesus, Laporte and Cancelo
Jesus can't hold down anything but a bench spot at City after what, 4 years? Flatters to deceive and always looks like he's pissed off. The last thing we need is an under acheiving sulker. Can't see City letting Sterling go either way for less than £70m. English 'premium' and all that.. .
I Can't help but think we are missing a trick. Souamare and Daka both going to Leicester look like the sort of players we should be signing. We must be more appealing than Leicester, both would have more chance of getting in our first team. Daka especially if Kane goes. I know we don't have a manager but surely our DOF should be looking at young players with the quality to develop.
Daka must be an easy sell for Leicester though, as he'll replace Vardy over the next season or so. They're very similar stylistically, from what I've seen of them, though I'm not sure he dives as well.
But hes going to be competing with Iheanacho and Edouard, I'm not sure he will get much game time if he plays out wide. Under barely played last season.
I don't think that they'll buy Edouard and Daka. It'll be one or the other. They do play two up front quite a lot, though.
Spurs should be an even easier sell as if he will have zero competition with Kane sold and Vinicius loan ending
That wouldn’t be Levy’s fault though would it? If Paratici and the new head coach thought Daka was enough then surely we’d have to trust their judgement?
Sugga Daddy FC players are 'wage poisoned' . I suspect the players themselves know that, but if their medals + pension desires are sated then they don't care so much (so can easily go to "lesser" clubs if they so wish) ..
IF Kane were to go, Daka would be someone a lot of Spurs fans would probably like to see at the club, an older Prem experienced backup would also be ideal but Daka is one of the hottest striking prospects in football right now and with Parrott and Scarlett both in the ranks we’d (in theory) have a solid group of strikers for the foreseeable future. Great signing for Leicester if they do finalise it.
