Don't think I've ever moaned about Southgate before. Just was disappointed with the performance against Scotland. I see no reason why we shouldn't be as passionate about England as the Scots are for Scotland. To me it's like the time Steve Evans didn't know my team had a rival with Swindon, there's just some games you have to win, and have to have the passion, blood and guts to win. I never saw any of that against Scotland, I saw plenty of it from Scotland. We looked knackered, like shagged out donkey's, yet we had longer to prepare. It's not acceptable.
Dunno what was wrong with the mentality before that game. It was a huge match, against the auld opposition and you would have thought we'd been right up for it. I don't think fatigue is an excuse as we'd only played one game, and like you say we had more time to prepare. But there was just something missing in the mentality. I was like we just didn't have the passion and energy to take the game to Scotland. And in the end, we were a bit fortunate to come away with a point.
Oh I'm not doubting that it was a below par performance. It's just the hysteria about it, especially as we're in quite a strong position to qualify from the group stages.
Yeah we should qualify. I missed the Croatia game, but apparently we looked decent enough. Maybe it was just a bad day at the office against Scotland. I think Southgate is tactically limited and doesn't really know how to change a game when it's not going to plan, but that said I think we have the quality in the squad to give anybody a game on our day. I'd just like to see us be a bit more assertive and take the game to the oppo.
Southgate has been involved in professional football for over 30 years and he's been a manager for about 15 years. He's got plenty of experience.
I think the France result and Spain struggles put it into context really. No easy games at this tournament and in isolation means nothing. The arrogance and self entitlement is tragic tbh. All about where you end up, not how you get there. Also no where near enough credit for Scotland, who aren't the walkovers they were a decade ago and a relatively solid international team now.
Over 500 professional club appearances, winning two trophies, and over 50 caps for his country. But yeah I'm sure he doesn't even know what a football is. People on the internet defo know more like.
Bluey and Libby just null and voided every opinion they will ever make on a player or manager As for myself, I do believe that I know more than some players and managers, even though I am a frequent internet user.
