Tierney had 12 appearances at LCB and 31 appearances at other positions: LB (22), DML (2), ML (1) and 6 sub appearances. It's hardly his regular position. By comparison, Grant Hanley has made 98 appearances for us, all at CB.
Swiss / Turkey game was well worth checking out. Some amazing shots and equally good shot stopping from the keepers. Love a tournament!
I didn't say it was "his regular position"; I said he had regularly played LCB, i.e. he is far from a makeshift CB as you implied in the post I responded to. Rather than refuting what I said, your figures actually confirm it, as does e.g. Transfermarkt (GE2 please note ).
I think you need to substitute often for regularly robbie. If he "regularly played LCD" that surely makes him a regular in that position. I thought your command of the Queens English would have made sure that you did not make this kind of error.
I agree with GE about the way you twist words to suit your purpose, Robbie. I didn't imply Tierney was a "makeshift CB", merely that he was a FB who was playing as a CB, like Sørensen is a midfielder who played at LB for us all of those games. Twelve appearances do not constitute "regularly played" to me either.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57551368 Billy Gilmour out for rest of the tournament (probably only 1game)
Pukki has been very disappointing but it looks like he's struggling with fitness returning from injury. He won't be satisfied with not scoring at the finals
Read an article where he talked about how his injury set back his preparations and fitness for the Euros. He's hoping for better against Belgium.
Pukki didn’t sparkle at all tonight and they’ll be quite lucky to get through. They need Scotland to draw with Croatia, Sweden to avoid defeat against Poland and Spain to lose against Slovakia or to hammer them by at least three goals.
Look up any list of synonyms for "regularly" and you'll find "often" is among them, as are e.g. "frequently", "repeatedly", "routinely", "commonly" etc. So my use of "regularly" was not aberrant in any way. All the above synonyms can correctly be used to describe Tierney's appearances at LCB for Arsenal, e.g. Arsenal, under Arteta, routinely, though not exclusively, play 3 at the back, and Tierney, when fit, routinely, but not exclusively, fills the LCB position when they do. Re. "his regular position", I think most people understand that as referring to, in Transfermarkt's terminology, a player's "main" position. So understood, Tierney's "regular position" is LFB. Tierney regularly played LCB for Arsenal last season, but that doesn't mean it's his regular, i.e. "main" position. Those who accuse me of constantly twisting words are simply ignoring the wonderfully nuanced character of English English.
I felt sorry for Pukki as I watched the game. The injury didn't help, but also the Finnish system almost seemed designed to neutralise his greatest asset - his movement off the ball. He looked lost for most of the match, a player who didn't really know quite what he was supposed to be doing, or was being made to do something which didn't suit his style at all. I know Finland don't have a Buendia to thread the ball through to him as he runs, but then neither will we next season. We have to solve that problem somehow during the next month.
Just for the sake of thoroughness - or one of the two scenarios above and Portugal to lose to France by four goals.
Well, as a pessimist - aka bed-wetter - who lived in Portugal until recently and loved the country, I have worked out the computations (including the nightmare one of finishing fourth if Hungary somehow beat Germany). I would hope France would be happy enough with a one-goal win, which would put Portugal through (assuming the sky doesn't fall in re. the other match).
